Isuzu Motors India Launches ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance

Isuzu Motors India has introduced the ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance, priced at ₹25,99,990 (ex-showroom, Chennai). This new ambulance is built to meet AIS-125 Type C specifications and is designed to enhance response times while providing reliability, safety, and comfort for patient transportation.

Features and Performance

It is powered by the ISUZU RZ4E 1.9L 4-cylinder VGS Turbo intercooled engine, which produces 120 kW of power at 3600 rpm and 360 Nm of torque between 2000-2500 rpm. This performance aims to support quick responses during critical situations, especially in the 'Golden Hour.'

The ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance is specifically designed for the Indian market and comes with 14 features to improve its functionality as a 'Basic Life Support' ambulance. 

Durability and Comfort

Built on ISUZU's iGRIP platform, the ambulance features a durable structure suitable for both urban and rural roads. It includes a Hi-Ride suspension with a double wishbone system for enhanced comfort and stability. Other design elements like a shorter wheelbase, good ground clearance, larger tyres, and a smaller turning radius improve its maneuverability in tight spaces.

The front cabin of the ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance is designed for comfort, featuring twin cockpit ergonomic seating, high-quality fabric upholstery, and air-conditioning for a fatigue-free ride for the driver and co-driver.

Safety Features of ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance

In terms of safety, the ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance is equipped with numerous active safety features, including:

  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill Descent Control (HDC)
  • Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
  • Intelligent Brake Over-ride System (BOS)
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)

For passive safety, it includes a pedestrian-friendly front design, seat belts with pre-tensioners, airbags for both the driver and co-driver, a collapsible steering column, and side intrusion protection beams.

Patient Transport Compartment

The patient transport compartment is fully equipped according to AIS-125 Type C specifications. It features:

  • Warning lights and sirens
  • High-visibility stickers
  • Rust-free and hygienic materials

The rear section has wide-opening doors for easy access and a ramp for handling stretchers. The interior layout is designed for efficient medical care, with well-placed storage units, a sliding window with a privacy curtain, and external storage for oxygen cylinders.
