New DelhiIndia electric bus sales reached 908 units in August 2026, up 57.9%. Olectra Greentech led the market, followed by JBM Electric Vehicles and Pinnacle Mobility.

India recorded 908 electric bus registrations in August 2026.
Electric bus sales increased by 333 units, or 57.9%, compared with July 2026.
Olectra Greentech topped the market with 315 units and a 34.7% market share.
JBM Electric Vehicles ranked second with 160 units, while Pinnacle Mobility stood third with 155 units.
Pinnacle Mobility posted the highest growth among the major OEMs at 198.1%.
PMI Electro Mobility reported a 62.2% decline in monthly registrations.
India’s electric bus market recorded strong growth in August 2026, with total registrations reaching 908 units. According to Vahan Dashboard data, Pan India, as of September 2, 2026, electric bus registrations increased significantly compared with July 2026.
The market recorded 575 electric bus registrations in July, meaning August added 333 more units. This translates into a 57.9% month-on-month increase, highlighting stronger electric bus adoption during the month.
Olectra Greentech emerged as the largest electric bus manufacturer in August, followed by JBM Electric Vehicles and Pinnacle Mobility.

Olectra Greentech led India’s electric bus market in August 2026 with 315 registrations, compared with 132 units in July. The company added 183 buses during the month, registering 138.6% growth and securing the highest market share of 34.7%.
JBM Electric Vehicles secured the second position with 160 electric bus registrations in August, up from 118 units in July. Its sales increased by 42 buses, resulting in 35.6% growth. The company held a 17.6% market share.
Pinnacle Mobility recorded one of the strongest performances among electric bus manufacturers. Its registrations increased from 52 units in July to 155 units in August. With an addition of 103 buses, the company registered 198.1% growth and captured 17.1% market share.
Switch Mobility ranked fourth with 146 electric bus registrations in August, compared with 53 units in July. The company added 93 buses, registering 175.5% growth and achieving a 16.1% market share.
PMI Electro Mobility recorded 54 electric bus registrations in August, significantly lower than the 143 units registered in July. Its registrations declined by 89 units, resulting in a 62.2% drop. Despite the decline, PMI maintained a 5.9% market share.
VE Commercial Vehicles registered 51 electric buses in August, compared with 41 units in July. The company added 10 buses and recorded 24.4% growth, giving it a 5.6% share of the market.
Aeroeagle Automobiles recorded 8 electric bus registrations in August, compared with 24 units in July. Sales declined by 16 units, translating into a 66.7% decrease. Its market share stood at 0.9%.
Vera Vidyuth Vahana registered 8 electric buses in August, while it had no registrations in July. The addition of eight units gave the company a 0.9% market share. Since there were no July registrations, a percentage growth figure is not applicable.
Other manufacturers collectively registered 11 electric buses in August, compared with 12 units in July. Registrations declined by one unit, resulting in an 8.3% decrease and a 1.2% market share.
The August 2026 data shows a clear lead for Olectra Greentech, which accounted for more than one-third of all electric bus registrations with a 34.7% market share. JBM Electric Vehicles and Pinnacle Mobility followed with 17.6% and 17.1%, respectively.
At the same time, Pinnacle Mobility and Switch Mobility recorded particularly strong month-on-month growth, while PMI Electro Mobility and Aeroeagle Automobiles witnessed significant declines.
With total registrations crossing 900 units in August, the sharp 57.9% monthly increase points to stronger momentum for electric buses in India’s commercial transportation market.

August 2026 was a strong month for India’s electric bus market, with registrations climbing to 908 units from 575 units in July. Olectra Greentech strengthened its leadership with 315 registrations, while JBM Electric Vehicles, Pinnacle Mobility and Switch Mobility also recorded healthy volumes. The sharp growth of Pinnacle and Switch, along with the overall rise in registrations, indicates increasing momentum for electric buses across India.
