Designed to meet the changing mobility needs of crowded cities, the Hyundai E3W and E4W concepts reimagine the traditional motor rickshaw as modern, adaptable electric vehicles.

Hyundai E3W and E4W Designed with TVS Motor Company

The E3W and E4W concepts were designed by Hyundai Genesis Global Design and were co-developed and produced with TVS Motor Company.

Both vehicles focus on urban micro-mobility and are designed for dense traffic conditions and everyday transportation requirements. Their compact proportions are intended to help them move more easily through congested city streets.

The concepts also feature an angled windshield, designed to provide improved visibility for the driver.

Barrier-Free Floor and Flexible Interior Layout

One of the key highlights of the Hyundai E3W and E4W is their full-flat, barrier-free floor design. This layout is intended to make entry and exit easier while also supporting wheelchair access.

The interior has been designed to offer greater flexibility. The seats can fold and dive, allowing the vehicle's cabin to be converted between different uses, including passenger transportation and cargo carrying.

This adaptable approach could make the same basic vehicle suitable for a wider range of urban mobility needs.

Adjustable Ride Height for Difficult Road Conditions

The Hyundai E3W and E4W concepts also feature adjustable ride height. This is intended to help maintain mobility on uneven roads and flooded streets, which can often create challenges for small urban vehicles.

For the driver, Hyundai has used simple digital interfaces and an ergonomic layout, aiming to create a more practical and easy-to-use driving environment.

Modular Platform Supports Multiple Applications

At the core of both concepts is a modular architecture that allows the same platform to be adapted for different applications.

Depending on requirements, the E3W and E4W platform could support roles such as:

  • Passenger transportation

  • Urban logistics and cargo delivery

  • Emergency mobility applications

By combining compact dimensions, flexible interiors, accessible entry and a modular electric platform, Hyundai's concepts explore how the traditional three-wheeler and micro-mobility segment could evolve for future urban transportation.

Hyundai E3W and E4W Bring a New Approach to Urban Electric Mobility

Winning Gold at the 2026 IDEA Awards highlights the design focus behind Hyundai's E3W and E4W electric micro-mobility concepts. Developed alongside TVS Motor Company, the concepts present a modern interpretation of the motor rickshaw format with features designed around accessibility, adaptability and urban practicality.

With a barrier-free floor, convertible passenger-to-cargo seating, adjustable ride height and a modular architecture for multiple applications, the E3W and E4W demonstrate Hyundai's vision for more versatile electric micro-mobility solutions in crowded cities.
