Key Highlights:
India is making significant progress toward promoting the use of electric mobility as part of its desire for cleaner transportation, but one of the primary difficulties is a lack of extensive charging infrastructure.
To address this issue, Gentari Green Mobility has partnered with multiple EV charging solution providers to launch the Gentari Go App.
1,500 EV Chargers Accessible Through Gentari Go App
The Gentari Go App will provide users with access to over 1,500 EV chargers across India. These chargers are operated by companies like Numocity, Statiq, and ChargeZone.
Out of these, Gentari itself has already deployed more than 300 charging points. This initiative is a step towards making EV charging more accessible and supporting India's transition to electric vehicles.
Focus on Renewable Energy Integration
In a recent interview, Nikhil Thomas, CEO of Green Mobility at Gentari India, discussed the importance of integrating renewable energy sources like solar and wind into EV charging networks.
He emphasized that to truly benefit the environment, advanced energy storage systems and smart grids are essential. However, large investments will be needed to upgrade India's current infrastructure to support this.
Expanding EV Charging Infrastructure Across India
Gentari is actively working to expand EV charging infrastructure across the country. Currently, their charging network is focused on the North, West, and South regions of India.
However, Nikhil Thomas revealed that the company plans to expand into underserved areas, especially in the East, to ensure more comprehensive coverage. Collaborations with public and private entities will be key in accelerating the growth of this infrastructure.
Gentari’s Future Plans for Green Mobility
As India targets achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, Gentari is prioritizing initiatives in renewable energy, hydrogen production, and sustainable mobility solutions.
The company plans to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles by 2025, and they have already placed over 3,000 EVs in India through their Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) model. Gentari recently partnered with Amazon India to provide EVs for the company's last-mile deliveries over the next three years.
Tackling Regulatory Challenges
Nikhil Thomas also highlighted the regulatory challenges in setting up EV infrastructure across India's states. Gentari is working closely with regulators to ensure that their projects meet both national and local standards, helping to smoothen the path for future growth.
