EKA Mobility has established a strategic and long-term partnership with Mitsui & Co Ltd (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands), signalling a significant step forward for the Indian automotive industry. EKA Mobility, known for its advanced electric vehicles and comprehensive EV system, is set to receive significant investments from Mitsui.
Additionally, VDL Groep, a Dutch technology and manufacturing company, will provide important technological support and an equity partnership to EKA Mobility. This partnership is seen as one of the most significant in India's new mobility sector, promising to boost electric vehicle technology and manufacturing capabilities.
Mitsui will provide critical support for EKA's exports to select emerging markets and the establishment of robust systems and processes. VDL Bus & Coach, a subsidiary of VDL Groep and Europe's leading electric bus and coach manufacturer, will share advanced technology with EKA Mobility. This technology transfer aims to facilitate the production of electric buses in India, addressing the specific needs of the Indian market.
This strategic alliance aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' initiative. By promoting local manufacturing and job creation, the partnership boosts India's position in the global EV market. The collaboration between EKA Mobility, Mitsui, and VDL Groep highlights a collective commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious mobility solutions, contributing significantly to the reduction of carbon footprints.

EKA Mobility is positioned to play a crucial role in India's transition to sustainable mobility, with a substantial order book that includes over 500 electric buses and 5000+ electric light commercial vehicles. All vehicles would be manufactured in India at the company's proposed state-of-the-art facilities in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Nobuyoshi Umezawa, GM of the Mobility Business Division at Mitsui & Co. India, emphasised the company's goal of contributing to 'Make in India' and exporting EKA goods to international markets. Rolf-Jan Zweep, CEO of VDL Bus & Coach, expressed pleasure and highlighted the projected collaborations, particularly in procurement and development.
