EKA Mobility, one of India's leading electric commercial vehicle manufacturers and a Champion OEM under the Government of India's Auto PLI Scheme, has appointed Prashant Kumar Banerjee as its Group Head - Government & Corporate Affairs. The appointment is aimed at strengthening the company's leadership as it expands its presence in India's fast-growing electric commercial vehicle (EV) market.
In his new role, Prashant Kumar Banerjee will oversee Government Relations, Corporate Affairs, Public Policy, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) across EKA Mobility and its Group companies.
He will be responsible for strengthening stakeholder engagement, driving policy advocacy, building strategic partnerships, and working closely with government departments, industry associations, and other key stakeholders. His role will support EKA Mobility's long-term growth strategy while contributing to sustainable mobility development in India.
Prashant Kumar Banerjee brings more than 36 years of experience in the automotive sector. During his career, he has held senior leadership positions at globally recognized organizations, including:
Tata Motors
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR)
Daewoo Motors
Toyota
IIT Bombay
Most recently, he served as the Executive Director of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), where he played a significant role in shaping India's automotive regulations, industry standards, and policy advocacy.
A Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK, and an alumnus of IIT Bombay, Banerjee has extensive expertise in automotive engineering, product development, regulations, and global policy.
Since 2003, he has represented India at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) WP.29 forums. On behalf of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), he also chairs India's GRSG, contributing to the development of vehicle construction regulations with a strong focus on electric and hydrogen mobility.
His contribution to sustainable transportation and bioenergy has also been internationally recognized. He was awarded Brazil's prestigious Order of Rio Branco, one of the country's highest civilian honours.
Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said that Banerjee's extensive expertise in industry, policy, and regulatory affairs will be a valuable asset for the company.
