Eicher Trucks and Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) Limited, has marked 10 years of the Eicher Driver Care Program on Drivers’ Day. The initiative focuses on improving access to healthcare and vision-care services for India’s commercial vehicle driver community.
To commemorate the milestone, Eicher is providing healthcare services to more than 1,000 drivers across India on Drivers Day.
10 Years of Eicher Driver Care Program
Launched in 2016, the Eicher Driver Care Program was started to improve access to preventive healthcare and eye-care services for commercial vehicle drivers. Over the past decade, the initiative has grown into a nationwide program in partnership with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH).
The program has conducted more than 17,000 eye camps, facilitated over 8 lakh eye screenings and distributed nearly 1 lakh spectacles across the country. More than 5.17 lakh drivers have been screened through these initiatives.
Eicher says the program reflects its wider focus on putting drivers at the centre of the commercial transportation ecosystem. Better access to healthcare and vision care can help drivers perform their work safely and effectively, while also supporting road safety and logistics efficiency.
B. Srinivas, MD & CEO, VECV, said drivers play an essential role in keeping businesses, communities and the economy moving. He added that completing 10 years of the Driver Care Program is an important milestone for Eicher, while its partnership with SCEH has helped bring essential healthcare and vision services closer to drivers across India.

Mobile Eye Vans Expand Healthcare Access
What started as an eye-care initiative has expanded to major transportation hubs across the country. The program currently operates through 13 Mobile Eye Vans and one static centre at Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar in Delhi.
The mobile eye-care vans cover Delhi NCR, Kanpur, Jaipur, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Patna, Sambalpur, Guwahati, Pune, Salem, Nashik and Hyderabad. Through these facilities, drivers can access essential eye-care services closer to their workplaces and transport hubs.
Eicher Jagruk Bharat Supports Drivers Families
Alongside healthcare and vision care, Eicher is also working to strengthen the social security support available to drivers through Eicher Jagruk Bharat.
The nationwide initiative helps drivers and their families understand and access social security schemes for which they may be eligible. Drivers can connect with the Jagruk Bharat team through a WhatsApp chatbot by giving a missed call or sending “Hi” to 9318350660.
The service is designed to assist drivers in navigating relevant social security schemes and extends this support to their family members.
