Farmers in Chhattisgarh have received a major relief ahead of the upcoming Kharif season. The state government has decided to ensure the uninterrupted availability of diesel for tractors and irrigation pumps so that farming activities continue smoothly across the state.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has issued clear instructions to officials to make sure farmers do not face any difficulty in getting diesel during the important agricultural season. The government said that all necessary steps are being taken to avoid any disruption in farming operations such as plowing, sowing, and irrigation.
The Chief Minister stated that the Kharif season is extremely important for farmers because most agricultural activities are carried out during this period. Farmers depend heavily on tractors and irrigation pumps, which require regular diesel supply for timely farming work.
He said that any shortage of diesel could create serious problems for farmers and delay agricultural activities. Keeping this in mind, the government has directed all concerned departments and agencies to remain alert and ensure that diesel reaches farmers without delay.
During a review meeting, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that farmers are the backbone of the state’s economy and protecting their interests is the government’s top priority. He instructed the Food Department, district administrations, and oil companies to work together to maintain uninterrupted diesel supply throughout the Kharif season.
The Chief Minister also warned officials that negligence in diesel supply arrangements would not be tolerated. He clearly stated that if any disruption occurs in the availability of diesel, accountability of the concerned officials will be fixed.
Officials have been directed to pay special attention to ensuring timely diesel availability so that agricultural operations like plowing, sowing, and irrigation are completed without interruption.
The government believes that smooth fuel supply is necessary to help farmers complete farming work on time and improve crop production during the season.
Earlier, on May 22, 2026, the Chhattisgarh government imposed a ban on the supply of fuel in drums and jerrycans at around 2,516 petrol pumps across the state. The decision was taken to prevent black marketing and illegal storage of petrol and diesel.
However, understanding the needs of the farming community, the government has provided special exemptions for agricultural purposes. Under this exemption, farmers will continue to get diesel for operating tractors and irrigation pumps.
This move is expected to protect farmers from fuel-related problems during the Kharif season while also helping the government control illegal fuel storage and misuse.
Food Secretary Reena Babasaheb Kangale informed that there is sufficient fuel stock available in the state and there is no possibility of shortage in the coming days.
According to the government, Chhattisgarh currently has around 43 million liters of petrol and nearly 55 million liters of diesel in reserve.
In addition, on May 24, 2026, the state received a fresh supply of around 233.3 million liters of petrol and 624.4 million liters of diesel. With these large fuel reserves, the government is confident that diesel supply for agricultural activities will remain smooth throughout the season.
The Chief Minister has directed district administrations and related agencies to continuously monitor the diesel supply system at the local level. Officials have been asked to maintain proper coordination so that farmers can get diesel quickly whenever needed.
The government assured farmers that agricultural requirements would be given top priority during the Kharif season. Officials have also been instructed to remain in regular contact with petrol pumps and oil companies to avoid any supply issues.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that the hard work of farmers and timely agricultural activities are the foundation of the state’s prosperity. He assured that the government will make every effort to ensure there is no interruption in diesel availability for farming purposes.
The decision is expected to provide major relief to farmers preparing for Kharif sowing and irrigation work, especially at a time when uninterrupted fuel supply is essential for agricultural productivity.
The Chhattisgarh government has taken an important step to support farmers during the Kharif season by ensuring uninterrupted diesel supply for tractors and irrigation pumps. Strict monitoring, sufficient fuel stock, and special exemptions for agricultural use will help farmers complete plowing, sowing, and irrigation work on time. The government’s focus on smooth farming operations is expected to provide relief to farmers and strengthen agricultural productivity across the state.
