Battery Smart, a network facilitator for electric two and three-wheelers exchanging batteries, has unveiled a key collaboration with Bharatsure, an Insurtech firm specializing in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). This partnership aims to extend health and accident insurance protection to more than 40,000 drivers and station affiliates within the Battery Smart network.
Beneficiaries of this insurance program will receive emergency treatment, medical hospitalization, and day-care services, among other benefits, if they meet the eligibility requirements.
They are also insured by accidental insurance policies, which allow them to get accidental OPD or lumpsum payments in unfortunate situations such as accidents that result in death, hospitalization, or permanent disability.
As electric vehicle demand rises in India, particularly in the two and three-wheeler segments, the number of truck drivers and delivery drivers on the road has increased dramatically.
Recognizing the importance of prioritizing the safety of its drivers and station partners, Battery Smart has launched a number of initiatives, including a 24-hour support helpline, in-app reporting, practical training sessions on battery handling and charging guidelines, and free EV health checkups. These initiatives seek to address safety risks proactively and reduce the likelihood of malfunctions or accidents.
Anuj Parekh, Co-founder & CEO of Bharatsure, stated, "The insurance coverage will provide users with critical financial security while also encouraging timely access to healthcare when needed. We are delighted to be connected with Battery Smart, which has decided to give such security to its partners."
Ankur Jhavery, VP-company at Battery Smart, stated that, "We recognize the need for comprehensive insurance to safeguard delivery drivers, gig workers, and small company owners, and we look forward to working together with Bharatsure. Its strong insurance policies will be critical in protecting our drivers and station partners, boosting trust in the push to transition to electric vehicles."
