On International Women's Day, Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group and India's top commercial vehicle manufacturer, debuted two new television commercials. These ads are special because they show women doing important jobs.
The first ad has a woman driving a pickup truck called BADA DOST. The second one is about an anthem song 'Aali Re' for the Mumbai Indians women's cricket team. Ashok Leyland is the primary partner of the Mumbai Indians women's team.
These initiatives will promote diversity and inclusiveness and also encourage women to pursue their goals. To promote gender equality in manufacturing, the company has already implemented initiatives such as the 'Women-centric Cabin Trim Line' at its Pantnagar facility and an 'All Women Production Line' at its Hosur plant.
Ashok Leyland has invested in training women in manufacturing skills and assigned them to lead the production of a new engine line.
In collaboration with the Delhi Government's Mission Parivartan, the company has trained 180 women as bus drivers, many of whom are now employed with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Last year alone, 100 women received specialized driving training to navigate various terrains and conditions.
Shenu Agarwal, the Managing Director & CEO of Ashok Leyland, highlighted the company's commitment to diversity and inclusion. He stated that everyone, no matter their gender or where they come from, deserves the same chance to succeed.
He added by saying, “We hope to demonstrate how these women are breaking stereotypes thinking and achieving their goals by firmly holding onto their belief of 'Koi Manzil Door Nahin'.”
