Key Highlights:
Suman Gandham, a serial entrepreneur known for being acquired by a Fintech Unicorn, has founded Dacio, a new AI mobility firm. The company promises to improve road safety in India by employing predictive video telematics, focusing on the commercial sector, including trucks, logistics companies, school buses, and multinational enterprises.
Dacio's Main Product
Dacio's main product is the Dacio Dash Cam AI, a cutting-edge dash cam manufactured specifically for the B2B market. The dash cam analyzes driving and driver behavior to improve road safety, giving fleet operators real-time visibility into their drivers' performance while encouraging better driving standards and conditions.
The device can detect behaviors of drivers while driving such as mobile phone usage, failure to wear a seatbelt, driver distraction, and signs of sleepiness or fatigue. When such behaviors are detected, alerts are sent to both the driver and fleet operators.
Suman Gandham, Founder and CEO of Dacio, emphasized that the company's mission goes beyond just selling a dash cam. Dacio aims to develop a complete mobility suite that includes technologies like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), tailored specifically for India's road conditions.
Additionally, the company plans to build an extensive India-centric data lake, which can be utilized by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to create solutions tailored to the country's unique driving environment.
In addition to the four-channel dash cam, Dacio offers retrofittable software that can be integrated into existing dash cams installed in vehicles. The startup's solutions use edge computing, which allows for real-time feedback without the delay associated with cloud processing, assuring seamless functionality even in remote locations.
Partnerships and Future Plans
Suman Gandham founded Dacio with Abhilash Reddy, an automotive enthusiast with experience in fintech, motorsport, and IoT sectors. Dacio has already attracted paid customers in the logistics, education, and OEM sectors, and expects to install 10,000 dash cams over the next year.
The firm is planning a seed round of funding in the next months to help it develop its operations, expand its product range, and solidify its position as a pioneer in AI-driven road safety solutions.
