Action Construction Equipment Limited (ACE) and Kato Works Company Limited have officially announced the launch of ACE KATO Private Limited, a 50:50 joint venture that will manufacture heavy-duty cranes in India. The new company aims to strengthen domestic production while serving both Indian and international infrastructure markets.
The partnership will combine Japanese engineering expertise with India's manufacturing capabilities to produce advanced lifting equipment locally.
As part of the joint venture, ACE KATO Private Limited will invest around ₹200 crore to build a new 11-acre manufacturing facility in Haryana.
The upcoming plant will feature advanced assembly lines, specialized production machinery, and facilities for localized product development. The project is expected to create a strong manufacturing base for heavy-duty cranes while supporting India's growing infrastructure sector.
The new facility will initially manufacture three major types of cranes:
High-capacity truck cranes
Crawler cranes
Rough terrain cranes
These cranes are expected to meet the increasing demand from industries such as mining, transportation, ports, construction, and other industrial applications. In later phases, the company also plans to expand its product portfolio by introducing more machinery.
Under the partnership, both companies will contribute based on their strengths.
Kato Works will be responsible for product design, engineering, and its proprietary lifting technologies. Meanwhile, ACE will manage localized sourcing, supply chain operations, and heavy manufacturing using its strong domestic production capabilities.
This approach is expected to ensure high-quality products while improving manufacturing efficiency.
A key objective of the joint venture is to increase the use of locally sourced components. ACE KATO Private Limited plans to gradually localize manufacturing by using ACE's established supplier network across India.
The localization strategy is expected to reduce dependence on imported parts, shorten international logistics lead times, lower long-term manufacturing costs, and maintain the high engineering standards associated with Japanese technology.
Sorab Agarwal, Executive Director of Action Construction Equipment Limited, said the joint venture is focused on long-term technology exchange. He added that the initiative aims to build a future-ready manufacturing platform capable of meeting the changing requirements of the lifting equipment industry.
Tomoyasu Kato, Director of Kato Works Company Limited, said the new Haryana facility will become an important production hub within Kato's global manufacturing network. He also highlighted that the partnership will benefit from ACE's strong market presence and extensive customer reach in India.
The formation of ACE KATO Private Limited marks an important step toward expanding heavy-duty crane manufacturing in India. With a planned investment of ₹200 crore, advanced manufacturing infrastructure, and a strong focus on technology transfer and localization, the joint venture aims to support India's infrastructure growth while also serving global markets with high-quality crane solutions.
