Rajasthan Farmers to Get Quick PMFBY Relief After Crop Loss
Unseasonal Rain and Hailstorm Damage Crops: Insurance Companies Told to Complete Survey, Payment Process to Start Within 24 Hours

Key Highlights:

  • Unseasonal rain and hail damaged Rabi crops.

  • PMFBY insurance covers harvested crops for 14 days.

  • Farmers must report losses within 72 hours.

  • Immediate field surveys ordered by Agriculture Department.

  • Compensation to be transferred directly to bank accounts.

Unseasonal rain, hailstorms, and cyclonic winds over the past few days have created serious problems for farmers. Rabi crops, especially those harvested and left in the fields for drying, have suffered heavy damage. Strong winds and continuous rain in many districts have soaked wheat, chickpeas, mustard, and other crops. This has affected both crop quality and overall production.

In response to this situation, the Rajasthan Agriculture Department has taken quick action and issued strict instructions to speed up compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

Immediate Survey and Fast Claim Processing Ordered

The Rajasthan Agriculture Department has directed all concerned insurance companies to immediately begin field surveys as soon as they receive information about crop damage. Companies have been instructed to initiate the claim process within 24 hours to ensure farmers get relief without delay.

To maintain transparency and speed, departmental officials have also been deployed to monitor the survey work. The government’s aim is to transfer the compensation amount directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers as quickly as possible.

Insurance Coverage Even After Harvest: 14-Day Special Relief

Under the rules of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), farmers get special protection even after harvesting their crops.

If a harvested crop is left in the field for drying for up to 14 days and gets damaged during this period due to unseasonal rain, hailstorm, or cyclone, farmers can claim insurance benefits on an individual basis.

This provision offers major relief to farmers whose crops were ready but got spoiled before reaching the market.

Report Crop Loss Within 72 Hours

To receive insurance benefits, timely reporting is very important. Affected insured farmers must report crop damage within 72 hours of the incident. Any delay in reporting may affect the claim process.

Farmers can report their losses through the following methods:

  • Call the toll-free helpline number: 14447

  • Visit the online Krishi Rakshak Portal (pmfby.gov.in/krph/)

  • Submit a “loss form” at:

    • The concerned insurance company office

    • The nearest agriculture department office

    • A bank branch

After the information is submitted, an insurance company team will visit the field to conduct a survey and assess the actual loss.

Keep These Documents Ready for Claim Filing

To avoid delays and ensure smooth processing of claims, farmers are advised to keep the following documents ready:

  • Insurance policy or registration details

  • Aadhaar card

  • Bank account details

  • Crop and field information

Having these documents ready will help speed up verification and ensure faster compensation.

How PMFBY Helps Farmers in Crisis

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) aims to provide financial security to farmers against crop loss caused by natural disasters, pests, diseases, or other unforeseen events. The scheme offers high-risk coverage at a low premium, making it affordable and beneficial for farmers.

In the current weather crisis, PMFBY is proving to be a major source of relief for affected farmers. The Agriculture Department has appealed to all insured farmers to report their losses within the given deadline so that they can receive compensation without any hurdles.

As unseasonal weather continues to impact farming, quick action and timely reporting will play a key role in ensuring that farmers receive the support they need.

CMV360 Says

The recent unseasonal rain, hailstorms, and strong winds have severely affected Rabi crops, causing losses for many farmers. Quick reporting and timely insurance claims under PMFBY are crucial for relief. The Rajasthan Agriculture Department and insurance companies are working together to ensure fast field surveys and direct payments. Farmers must keep necessary documents ready and report damages within 72 hours to receive compensation efficiently and secure their livelihood in these challenging times.
