Buying Swadeshi goods boosts local jobs and incomes.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has strongly supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote indigenous products. On Sunday, Chouhan appealed to citizens across India to purchase only Indian-made goods, stating that every such purchase helps support local farmers, artisans, self-help groups, and small-scale industries.
Minister Chouhan’s appeal came a day after Prime Minister Modi addressed farmers in Varanasi during the release of the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi. In his address, PM Modi urged citizens to prefer Indian-made products and contribute to building a stronger and self-reliant economy.
Chouhan emphasized this message, saying, “We must live for our country. Living for the nation means buying only those products that are made in our own country.” He highlighted that every citizen has a role to play in boosting India’s economy through their daily choices.
Encouraging people to take pride in local goods, Chouhan added, “Whether the product is made in your village, town, district, state, or anywhere in India, please buy only those items. Each Indian product we buy supports our farmers, artisans, self-help groups, and small businesses.”
He further explained that India has a massive market of 1.44 billion people, and if all Indians choose to buy local products, it will significantly boost the incomes of local producers and create jobs for millions of people across the country.
Highlighting India’s progress, Chouhan stated, “Today, India is the fourth-largest economy in the world, and we are rapidly moving towards becoming the third-largest. Let’s keep our money within our country to benefit our own people. Why should our hard-earned money go abroad when it can provide employment and income to our own children?”
He encouraged citizens to act with a sense of national pride and responsibility, saying, “I will live for my country, and you too should live for our country by buying only Made-in-India products.”
Chouhan’s statement is part of the government’s larger “Vocal for Local” campaign, which aims to promote Swadeshi products and reduce dependence on imported goods. The campaign also encourages innovation and manufacturing within the country to make India a global economic leader.
Prime Minister Modi has often emphasized that self-reliance is key for India’s future, especially in a changing global environment. According to him, every citizen’s commitment to using Indian-made products will help the country become a global economic powerhouse.
