A special event was organized in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where Guinness World Records coordinator Carl Saville handed over the certificate and medal to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He confirmed that the Guinness team conducted ground inspections and verified every pump installed across the state. The original target was 35,000 pumps, but Maharashtra surpassed it by installing 45,911 units.
During the celebration, Chief Minister Fadnavis interacted with farmers through video calls. Many farmers shared how solar pumps reduced irrigation costs, saved time, increased water availability, and ended their dependency on night-time electricity.
Farmers expressed that water problems have reduced, and daytime irrigation has become convenient. They also noted that solar pumps eliminated electricity bills, improved crop safety, and increased productivity.
CM Fadnavis said that Maharashtra is moving fast towards sustainable development. Even though the state faced drought-like situations between 2014 and 2021, the introduction of solar pumps has changed the irrigation system significantly. Now, farmers can irrigate their fields during the day, resulting in better yields.
He added that the government has launched many schemes for the poor, farmers, women, labourers, tribals, and minorities. Solar pump installation is one of the biggest transformations in the agriculture sector.
The Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana (PM-KUSUM) has been a driving force behind Maharashtra’s solar revolution. After 2022, the scheme was expanded widely in the state, allowing lakhs of farmers to access subsidised solar pumps. Today, around 65% of India’s farmers using solar pumps are from Maharashtra, and the state has installed over 7 lakh solar pumps so far.

Maharashtra’s record-setting installation of 45,911 solar pumps in 30 days marks a major leap toward clean energy and modern farming. The initiative has reduced irrigation challenges, cut electricity dependency, and empowered farmers with reliable water access. Supported by the Kusum Yojana, this achievement shows how large-scale solar adoption can transform agriculture. The state's continued focus on sustainability promises a brighter, more secure future for farmers.
