The Jharkhand government has allocated Rs 140 crore under the Agricultural Equipment Distribution Scheme to provide subsidies on tractors and other farming machinery. This scheme aims to benefit 8,400 farmers in the financial year 2025-26.

The recently presented Jharkhand Budget 2025-26 has introduced several beneficial schemes for farmers and livestock owners. The government has allocated Rs 4,587.66 crore for agriculture and allied sectors. Here are some key highlights:
Birsa Seed Production Exchange Distribution and Crop Extension Scheme: Rs 95 crore allocated for subsidized seeds for farmers.
Jal Nidhi Sub-Scheme: Rs 203.40 crore allocated for deepening/renovating ponds and deep boring.
Jharkhand State Millet Mission Scheme: Rs 24.50 crore allocated to provide subsidies to one lakh farmers to combat drought.
Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: Rs 350 crore allocated for compensating farmers for losses due to natural disasters.
Warehouse Construction Scheme: Rs 259.52 crore allocated for constructing 118 warehouses for produce storage.
State Garden Development Scheme: Rs 304.85 crore allocated for vegetable and flower cultivation, farmer training, beekeeping, and tea plantation.
Chief Minister Livestock Development Scheme: Rs 255 crore allocated to benefit 79,000 livestock farmers.
Jharkhand Dairy Development Plan: The state targets 38.01 lakh metric tonnes of milk production with improved processing and marketing.
Fisheries Development: Rs 24 crore allocated to produce 4.10 lakh metric tonnes of fish and support self-employment in fish farming.

Under this scheme, the Jharkhand government is setting up agricultural equipment banks to provide modern farming tools to self-help groups, women farmer groups, and other agricultural organizations. Key details include:
An 80% subsidy (up to Rs 5 lakh) on equipment package worth Rs 6.25 lakh for agricultural groups.
Equipment covered: mini tractors, power tillers, rice transplanters, threshers, mini rice mills, cultivators, seed cum fertilizer drills, and post-harvest machines like mini dal mills and oil expellers.
Priority will be given to women’s self-help groups and farmer groups associated with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society.
Farmers with more than 2 acres of cultivable land are eligible for the scheme.
Individual farmers can receive up to 80% subsidy on a maximum project cost of Rs 2 lakh (up to Rs 1.60 lakh).
This initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity, reduce manual labour, and support farmers in Jharkhand with modern farming technology. With substantial financial provisions, the state government is working towards improving the overall income and livelihood of farmers.
