The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Free Toria Seed Scheme 2025 under the State Assisted Free Oilseed Seed Minikit Distribution, Demonstration and Promotion Program. Through this initiative, farmers will receive free Toria (Lahi) seed minikits to promote oilseed cultivation and increase farm income.

What is Toria (Lahi) and Why Farmers Should Grow It

Toria, also known as Lahi, is an important oilseed crop. It is sown in the first fortnight of September and matures quickly, making it a short-term profitable option. Farmers who could not sow Kharif crops or whose crops were damaged can use this as an alternative. Besides generating additional income, Toria also improves soil fertility and requires less irrigation.
