The scheme covers 14 districts and 577 panchayats.
Both rayat and non-rayat farmers are eligible.
Apply online before 5 September 2025.
Aadhaar and DBT registration are mandatory.
There is good news for farmers affected by excessive rains and floods in Bihar. The state government has launched the Agriculture Input Grant Scheme Sharadiya (Kharif) 2025 to provide financial help to farmers whose crops were damaged in August 2025. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will get compensation of up to ₹22,500 per hectare.
The scheme covers farmers from 577 panchayats of 64 blocks across 14 districts. Its main aim is to compensate crop loss, support farmers financially, and ensure that farming continues without disruption.
Farmers will get compensation according to the type of land and crops damaged:
Non-irrigated areas (rain-fed farming): ₹8,500 per hectare
Irrigated areas (irrigation-based farming): ₹17,000 per hectare
Perpetual/Perennial crops (like sugarcane): ₹22,500 per hectare
A farmer can claim compensation for a maximum of 2 hectares of land. Minimum compensation has also been fixed at ₹1,000 for non-irrigated land, ₹2,000 for irrigated land, and ₹2,500 for perennial crops.
Both rayat (landholders) and non-rayat (landless) farmers can apply. The key conditions are:
Crop damage must be more than 33%.
The farmer must be registered on the Bihar Agriculture Department portal.
Aadhaar verification of the farmer’s family is mandatory.
For rayat farmers, the LPC or land revenue receipt of 2022-23, 2023-24, or 2024-25 is needed.
For non-rayat farmers, a self-declaration certificate verified by a ward member and the agriculture coordinator (available on the DBT portal) is required.
Farmers from selected panchayats of the following 14 districts can apply for compensation:
Nalanda, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Katihar, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Patna, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Munger, Saran, Samastipur, Madhepura, and Sheikhpura.
Only those farmers whose crops have suffered more than 33% damage will be eligible for benefits.
Farmers need the following documents to apply:
Aadhaar Card
Land documents or self-declaration certificate (for non-rayat farmers)
Bank account details linked to Aadhaar
Farmer registration number (13-digit, available on DBT portal)
Farmers must apply online by 5 September 2025 at dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in.
New farmers need to register first on the DBT portal, while already registered farmers can directly apply.
Farmers who face issues can take help from their nearest Common Service Center (CSC), Computer Center, or Vasudha Center.
For queries, farmers can contact the toll-free number 1800-180-1551.
Registration on the DBT portal is mandatory to get compensation.
There is no deadline for portal registration; it can be done anytime.
OTP is required during online application and should not be shared with anyone.
Once registered, farmers get a 13-digit number that allows them to receive scheme benefits directly in their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The Agriculture Input Grant Scheme Sharadiya (Kharif) 2025 is a major relief for farmers of Bihar who lost crops due to heavy rains and floods. With compensation of up to ₹22,500 per hectare, this initiative will help farmers recover from losses and continue farming activities without financial stress. Farmers are advised to complete the online application process before 5 September 2025 to avail themselves of the benefits.
