UP government offering 30-50% subsidy on paddy seeds.
Subsidy available on varieties like IR 64, CO One, Siyas One, and HUR 917.
Payment system changed, subsidy deducted directly at purchase.
30 kg of seeds are allotted for every 4 bighas of land.
Seeds are available via POS machines at 9 block offices and the Kisan Kalyan Kendra.
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a big relief for farmers by offering a 30 to 50 percent subsidy on paddy seeds. This move aims to provide high-quality seeds at affordable prices to help farmers increase their paddy production during the Kharif season.
With the start of the Kharif season, paddy sowing and nursery preparations have already begun in Uttar Pradesh. To support the farmers, the Yogi government has decided to provide certified and improved paddy seeds at subsidized rates. Farmers cultivating paddy will now get a 30% to 50% subsidy on various paddy seed varieties.
Earlier, farmers had to pay the full price for the seeds and wait for 5 months to 1 year to receive the subsidy amount in their bank accounts. Now, the government has simplified the process. Farmers will pay only the discounted price at the time of purchase. The subsidy amount will be deducted directly through the e-POS machine during the purchase, and farmers will receive the bill with the subsidy already deducted.
According to the Agriculture Department, the subsidy will be available for different paddy varieties like IR 64, CO One, Siyas One, and HUR 917. The details of the subsidy rates are:
50% subsidy on Siyas One variety
30% subsidy on HUR 917 variety
Subsidy on IR 64 and CO One as per government provision
Paddy seeds will be distributed through government seed warehouses using POS machines. Farmers need to register to get the seeds, as seeds will not be provided without registration. The department has made arrangements for about 759 quintals of paddy seeds for the 2025 Kharif season. Out of this, 640 quintals have already been received.
Farmers can visit their block office with land records (Khatauni) and an Aadhaar card to get the subsidized seeds. As per the rule, 30 kg of paddy seeds will be given for every 4 bighas of land recorded in Khatauni. Although registration is not mandatory, having land records and Aadhaar is necessary. The farmers can verify their identity by giving thumb impressions on the e-POS machine.
This facility is available in 9 block offices of the district. Additionally, farmers can also collect seeds from the Kisan Kalyan Kendra located at Mahunrahi in the Sadar block. There are 2.17 lakh registered farmers in the district, and all of them can benefit from the scheme by purchasing different varieties of paddy seeds at a subsidy.
