The Bihar government has launched the Diesel Subsidy Scheme Kharif 2025 to help farmers reduce irrigation expenses during the Kharif season. This scheme offers financial aid for diesel used for irrigation through diesel pumps. Farmers are encouraged to apply online and avail benefits before the deadline.
Objective: To support farmers with irrigation costs during drought-like conditions in Kharif 2025.
₹750 per acre per irrigation (at ₹75/litre diesel rate).
Maximum subsidy per crop type:
₹1,500 per acre for paddy seedlings and jute (maximum 2 irrigations).
₹2,250 per acre for paddy, maize, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, medicinal and aromatic crops (maximum 3 irrigations).
Subsidy applies for up to 8 acres per farmer.
Due to irregular rainfall across various regions, some areas with excessive rains and others like Bihar with below-normal rainfall, farmers are facing challenges in irrigating their crops. To prevent crop failure and reduce costs, the Bihar government’s Agriculture Department has started this diesel subsidy scheme for farmers who use diesel pumps for irrigation.
Farmers must meet the following conditions:
All categories of farmers (small, marginal, and large) are eligible.
Both Panchayat and Municipal area farmers can apply.
The farmer must be registered on the DBT Agriculture Portal: dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in.
Only one person per family (husband-wife and minor children treated as one family) can apply.
Diesel must be purchased within Bihar. Diesel bought from other states is not eligible.
Non-Rayat (tenant) farmers must upload a certificate signed by a public representative and the agriculture coordinator.
Farmers need to apply online through the Bihar Kisan App or directly via the DBT Agriculture Portal.
Register on the portal if not already registered.

13-digit registration number.
Digital diesel voucher receipt showing:
Farmer's registration number (last 10 digits),

The Diesel Subsidy Scheme Kharif 2025 is a valuable initiative for Bihar’s farmers, especially in areas facing low rainfall. By offering a subsidy of up to ₹2,250 per acre, the state government is ensuring that farmers can manage irrigation effectively without high fuel expenses. Farmers should apply early and follow the proper process to take full advantage of the scheme.
