Centre approves purchase of 26.49 lakh tonnes of soybean at MSP under Bhavantar Yojana.
9.36 lakh farmers registered in Madhya Pradesh for soybean procurement.
Farmers can sell soybeans at MSP from October 24, 2025, to January 15, 2026.
₹15,095.8 crore procurement plan approved for pulses and oilseeds in four states.
The model price for soybeans is to be announced on November 7, 2025.
In a major move to support farmers, the Central Government has approved the purchase of 26.49 lakh tonnes of soybean at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. This decision will benefit thousands of farmers across Madhya Pradesh, ensuring they receive fair prices for their produce.
Madhya Pradesh’s Farmer Welfare and Agricultural Development Minister Edal Singh Kansana expressed gratitude to the Centre for approving the proposal. The state had requested permission to purchase 26.49 lakh metric tonnes of soybean, which the Government of India has now fully approved.
This approval allows the state to procure soybeans smoothly, preventing farmers from incurring losses due to falling market prices.
Minister Kansana said that the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana aims to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their crops, even when market rates drop below the MSP. In the Kharif 2025 season, soybean prices have declined, prompting the Chief Minister, Dr Mohan Yadav, to implement the Bhavantar Yojana. This move ensures that farmers are protected from financial losses and can sell their crops at just prices.
Under the scheme, farmers were registered from October 3 to October 17, 2025. A total of 9.36 lakh farmers registered, covering 22.64 lakh hectares of land.
Soybean procurement under the Bhavantar Yojana started on October 24, 2025, and will continue till January 15, 2026. Farmers can sell their soybean crop at MSP during this period.
As of now, soybean procurement has already begun across various mandis in Madhya Pradesh.
25,999 tonnes of soybeans have been purchased from 14,727 farmers so far.
On October 27 alone, 14,214 tonnes of soybeans were bought from 7,981 farmers.
Ujjain – 529 tonnes
Dewas – 512 tonnes
Tal – 486 tonnes
Indore – 455 tonnes
Khategaon – 425 tonnes
Bairasia – 396 tonnes
Agar – 376 tonnes
Sagar – 368 tonnes
Ashta – 339 tonnes
Shajapur – 335 tonnes
This year, 5.32 million hectares of land in Madhya Pradesh have been sown with soybean, producing 5.554 million metric tonnes.
The first model price for soybean purchases will be announced on November 7, 2025.
The main aim of the Bhavantar Yojana is to protect soybean farmers from market fluctuations and ensure they receive adequate compensation. This will bring relief to millions of farmers in the state.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved procurement schemes for pulses and oilseeds in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Telangana for Kharif 2025-26.
The total procurement budget for these states amounts to ₹15,095.8 crore, benefiting lakhs of farmers.
