Women earn ₹7,000 monthly as LIC agents.
Over 2 lakh women have already joined the scheme.
A stipend is given for three years with conditions.
Commission up to ₹48,000 in the first year.
Eligibility: 10th pass, age 18-70 years.
The central government, in collaboration with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), is running the Bima Sakhi Yojana 2025. This scheme is helping women across India earn around ₹7,000 every month by working as LIC agents. Women also receive a commission on selling insurance policies, making it a good opportunity for financial independence. However, many women are still unaware of this scheme.
The Bima Sakhi Yojana aims to create employment opportunities for women who want to work but lack proper resources. It allows women in both rural and urban areas to join LIC as agents after basic training. Along with employment, the scheme also spreads financial literacy and promotes self-reliance among women.
The scheme was launched on 9 December 2024 and has received an excellent response. Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, informed Parliament that more than 2 lakh women have already joined. On average, these women are earning ₹7,000 per month.
In FY 2024-25, LIC paid ₹62.36 crore to Insurance Sakhis.
For FY 2025-26, LIC has allocated a budget of ₹520 crore.
Till July 14, ₹115.13 crore has already been paid.
This shows the government’s efforts to expand the scheme and provide income opportunities to more women.
Only Indian women can apply for this scheme. The eligibility conditions are:
Age limit: 18 to 70 years.
Education: Minimum 10th pass.
Excluded: Existing insurance agents, retired LIC employees, and their close relatives.
Only women applying for the first time as insurance agents are eligible.
Women working under the scheme receive a monthly stipend for three years:
₹7,000/month in the 1st year (if 65% of policies remain active).
₹6,000/month in the 2nd year (with 65% policies active).
₹5,000/month in the 3rd year (again, 65% policies must stay active).
Apart from the stipend, women also earn a commission up to ₹48,000 in the first year on LIC policies. This provides both fixed income and performance-based earnings.
To apply, women must have the following:
Aadhaar Card
PAN Card
Residence proof
Bank account details
10th pass certificate
Passport-size photo
Email ID and mobile number
Documents should be updated and accurate to avoid issues during the application process.
Eligible women can apply for the scheme through the official LIC website:

The Bima Sakhi Yojana 2025 is a powerful step by the government and LIC to empower women financially. By offering income, commission, training, and growth opportunities, the scheme has already transformed the lives of over 2 lakh women. With its expanding budget and growing awareness, it is expected to benefit many more women in the coming years, making them financially independent and self-reliant.
