Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced the re-implementation of the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, giving a major relief to soybean farmers in the state. Under this scheme, farmers will receive compensation if they sell their soybean crops at prices lower than the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Chief Minister Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fixed the MSP for soybean at ₹5,328 per quintal. If farmers sell their produce below this rate, the state government will directly transfer the difference to their bank accounts. This decision aims to shield farmers from losses caused by price fluctuations in the open market.
The government clarified that farmers can continue to sell their produce in local markets as usual. After the sale, the compensation amount will be credited directly to their accounts based on the difference between the selling price and MSP.
To take advantage of this scheme, farmers will need to register themselves. The registration process will soon be open through both online and offline modes. Only registered farmers will be eligible for compensation.
Under the Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, compensation will be provided in two scenarios:
If the selling price is less than MSP but more than the model rate, farmers will get the difference between MSP and the selling price.
If the selling price is less than the model rate, the compensation will be calculated based on the difference between MSP and the model rate.
This mechanism is designed to provide price stability and relief from market uncertainties.
CM Yadav reiterated that the state government will not allow farmers to suffer losses under any circumstances. He stated that the decision was taken based on feedback from farmers' unions. Additionally, he mentioned that surveys are being conducted to assess losses from the yellow mosaic virus, and compensation will be given to affected farmers.
The Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana is a unique farmer-friendly initiative of the Madhya Pradesh government. It ensures that farmers receive at least the MSP for their crops by compensating for the price gap when the market rates fall. This scheme has been implemented in the past and has directly benefited lakhs of farmers across the state.
The re-launch of this scheme is expected to bring relief to lakhs of soybean farmers in Madhya Pradesh. It will not only stabilize their income but also motivate them to adopt better farming practices and increase productivity.
