Farmers across India have received a major boost as the central government has approved the procurement of six key crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the Kharif 2025–26 marketing year. This decision will provide a direct financial benefit of ₹13,890.60 crore to farmers, with Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat getting maximum coverage.

Six Crops to Be Procured at MSP

The government has approved the purchase of:

  • Tur (Pigeon Pea)

  • Urad (Black Gram)

  • Moong (Green Gram)

  • Sesame (Til)

  • Groundnut

  • Soybean

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the announcement during a high-level virtual meeting with state agriculture ministers and officials.

100% Procurement in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat

The government has allowed 100% procurement of tur and urad in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Farmers in these states will now be able to sell their crops directly at government procurement centres at MSP, ensuring better prices and timely payments.

Transparent and Digital Procurement Process

The Agriculture Minister has directed that the procurement process should be completely transparent, digital, and secure to prevent middlemen from taking advantage.

Key arrangements include:

  • Biometric authentication and POS machines for farmer verification.

  • Registration is only for genuine farmers who have cultivated pulses and oilseeds.

  • Purchases through the e-Samriddhi and e-Samyuti portals.

  • Registration and procurement are managed by NAFED and NCCF.

  • Direct payment to farmers’ bank accounts under the Digital Crop Procurement Scheme 2025.

Flexibility in Procurement Quantities

The minister also stated that the procurement quantities can be revised later based on advanced production estimates. This ensures that no eligible farmer is left out and everyone gets full MSP benefits.

Big Step to Boost Farmers Income

This initiative is expected to provide a significant income boost to millions of farmers. With growing demand for pulses and oilseeds, direct purchase at MSP will help farmers get fair prices and reduce dependency on middlemen.

With transparent digital systems, direct bank transfers, and large-scale procurement, this initiative is set to raise farmers’ incomes and strengthen India’s agricultural economy.
