The Bihar government has brought great news for horticulture farmers by launching a new scheme to help them control pests in their gardens and crops. Under this scheme, farmers will get a subsidy of 50% to 75% on pest control spraying for major fruit crops such as mango, litchi, guava, banana, and papaya. This initiative aims to improve the quality of fruits, increase farmers income, and promote horticultural farming in the state.

The new pest management scheme will be active for the financial year 2025-26 and operated by the Bihar Department of Agriculture. The scheme is designed not only to protect crops but also to help farmers earn better profits by improving the quantity and quality of fruit production.
Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha shared that this scheme is a strong step towards strengthening Bihar's horticulture sector. Pest attacks often cause huge losses for farmers, especially those growing mango, litchi, and guava. With the help of this subsidy, farmers will get timely and scientific pest control services, ensuring healthy crops and higher yields.
The subsidy amounts have been fixed according to the type of fruit crop. Here are the complete details:
Crop | First Spray Subsidy | Second Spray Subsidy | Maximum Trees Covered |
Mango | ₹57 per tree | ₹72 per tree | 112 trees |
Litchi | ₹162 per tree | ₹114 per tree | 84 trees |
Guava | ₹33 per tree | ₹45 per tree | 56 trees |
Banana & Papaya | 50% or ₹2150 per acre | 50% or ₹2000 per acre | As per acre |
Farmers will be allowed two rounds of spraying to ensure better pest control and improved crop yield.
The Bihar government has kept the application process simple and transparent for farmers to benefit from the scheme. Interested farmers need to apply online through the DBT portal. Here is a step-by-step guide:

Pesticide spraying will be carried out by government-approved service providers who will follow scientific guidelines and use recommended pesticides. This ensures that farmers receive high-quality pest control services.
Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said that the scheme's objective is to provide “high quality produce at low cost.” The Agriculture Department has already issued instructions for the scheme's implementation to all districts, and the list of authorized service providers will soon be available on the portal.
For any further assistance, farmers can contact their Block Agriculture Officer or visit the Horticulture Department. They will get full guidance on how to apply and avail of benefits under this scheme.
