The monsoon remains active across several parts of India, with rain expected in nearly 20 states over the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall between September 11 and 16, with some areas likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are also expected in several regions.

The weather conditions could affect farming activities, travel and daily life. Farmers and the public have been advised to follow local weather warnings and take necessary precautions, especially during thunderstorms and lightning.

Rain Forecast for North-West India

Rainfall is likely to continue across several parts of northwest India. Uttarakhand may receive widespread rain along with thunderstorms and lightning from September 11 to 14.

Meanwhile, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab and eastern Rajasthan are expected to experience rain at many places, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, from September 14 to 15. Residents in these areas should remain alert during periods of intense weather.

Rain Alert for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh

Monsoon activity is also expected to remain strong over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Western Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning from September 12 to 14. Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha may experience similar conditions from September 11 to 14.

In Chhattisgarh, rainfall is expected to continue from September 11 to 16, with some areas likely to witness heavy rain along with thunderstorms and lightning.

Eastern India to See Rain and Thunderstorms

The monsoon is likely to remain active in parts of eastern India as well. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may receive rain at many places, along with thunderstorms and lightning, between September 11 and 16.

From September 14 to 16, rain and thunderstorms are expected at some places across the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha.

Heavy Rain Forecast in Northeast India

Northeastern states are also likely to remain under an active weather pattern. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive heavy rainfall between September 11 and 16.

Thunderstorms and lightning are also possible in some areas. Farmers working in fields during this period should closely monitor local weather updates and avoid open areas whenever lightning activity is reported.

Heavy Rain Expected in Western and Southern States

Several western states are also likely to experience heavy rainfall. The IMD has forecast heavy rain in Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Gujarat from September 11 to 16.

In Marathwada, thunderstorms and strong winds are possible from September 11 to 13. Wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph, with gusts of up to 60 kmph in some areas. Lightning is also expected.

Southern India is likely to receive rainfall during different periods. Coastal Karnataka, north interior Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may experience rain between September 11 and 16.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive rainfall from September 13 to 16. Lakshadweep and Telangana may also see rain at several places between September 12 and 13.

Continuous rain, thunderstorms and strong winds can create risks for standing crops, livestock and farm equipment. Farmers should take precautions to protect crops and agricultural machinery from rain and strong winds.

Agricultural work in open fields should be avoided during thunderstorms or lightning. Farmers should regularly check local weather alerts and plan essential field activities after conditions improve. Livestock should also be kept in safe and sheltered areas during severe weather.
