Three Wheels United (TWU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Piaggio Vehicles for the procurement of 3,300 electric 3-wheelers to be deployed across Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh over the next 18 months. Three Wheels United (TWU) is a global fintech company for EV financing.
"The MoU with TWU will further strengthen our commitment to building India's EV infrastructure with competent and reliable partners," said Diego Graffi, Chairman & MD of Piaggio Vehicles.
Three Wheels United will facilitate easy and affordable financing for individuals as well as fleet operators to easily switch from conventional engines to EV three-wheelers under this partnership. Drivers will be offered low-interest loans covering up to 100% of the cost of the vehicle, with no collateral required. Furthermore, Three Wheels United's driver app, which provides information on charging station locations, parking options, and vehicle maintenance, will provide drivers with ongoing assistance.
Cedrick Tandong, CEO of TWU Said, "Currently, there are over 13 lakhs EVs registered in the country. Much work remains to be done in order to achieve widespread EV adoption in India. To remove the barriers to easy adoption, we need an ecosystem approach. Collaboration among automakers, financiers, and charging infrastructure providers can provide the way for EV mass adoption in India."
TWU will also offer a buyback option, allowing drivers to sell their existing polluting vehicles that are more than ten years old and purchase Piaggio's Ape Electrik EVs. Drivers can take home a new vehicle for a down payment of Rs 29,999/-. Piaggio dealers and Three Wheels United's operations team will provide dedicated service support to vehicle owners. PVPL will provide the necessary support for vehicle maintenance and servicing, ensuring minimal downtime for operations.
The new Apé FX Max range features advanced battery performance, higher earnings, and a lower overall cost of ownership. The vehicles have a reserve range of up to 5 kilometres. Bigger tyres provide a better ride and handling experience, as well as control over rough, uneven road conditions. The vehicle's seat height has also been adjusted to improve visibility and control while driving. Advanced telematics 2.0 improves driver navigation while also allowing fleet owners to track and manage their fleet more efficiently.
