In a significant leap towards sustainable urban mobility, Tata Motors, India's leading automobile manufacturer, unveiled and flagged off its cutting-edge Smart Electric Bus prototype in Bengaluru. This milestone marks a major step in the company's commitment to providing eco-friendly and technologically advanced public transportation solutions.
Bengaluru residents will now have smarter, safer, and greener public transit. The Smart Electric Bus, developed by Tata Motors' innovative research and development team, aims to revolutionize public transport by offering a greener alternative to conventional diesel-powered buses.
Equipped with state-of-the-art electric propulsion technology, the bus promises zero tailpipe emissions, significantly reducing the city's carbon footprint and mitigating the effects of air pollution. At the grand inauguration ceremony, top executives from Tata Motors, along with esteemed dignitaries from the government and the automobile industry, gathered to celebrate this momentous occasion.
TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a completely owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, and BMTC signed a deal in which the company will produce, operate, and service 921 units of state-of-the-art 12-metre low-floor electric buses for a term of 12 years. The Starbus EV has a cutting-edge design, cutting-edge safety features, and a powerful, energy-efficient electric drivetrain. With zero tailpipe emissions, the e-bus makes a substantial contribution to decreasing air pollution and minimizing the effects of climate change.
It has a new-generation electric powertrain, an innovative Integrated Transport System, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Brake Distribution, and an advanced telematics system, as well as comfortable seating for 35 passengers and quick access and egress due to its low-floor structure.
Tata Motors has supplied over 900 electric buses across several cities in India, with a total mileage of more than 8 crore kilometers and an uptime of more than 95%.
Passenger comfort and safety are at the forefront of the design, with spacious interiors, ergonomic seating, and modern amenities, ensuring a pleasurable travel experience for commuters. The bus also incorporates cutting-edge safety features, such as advanced driver assistance systems, collision avoidance technology, and real-time monitoring systems.
