The event was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran.

Lucknow Plant Milestone and Impact

The Lucknow facility, spanning 600 acres, supports over 8,000 livelihoods. It operates entirely on renewable energy and is certified as water-positive. The plant manufactures trucks and buses with various powertrains, including electric vehicles (EVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). The facility has an annual production capacity exceeding one lakh vehicles. It plays a crucial role in meeting commercial mobility demands across India and exports to international markets.

The 10 lakh production milestone highlights Tata Motors' commitment to Uttar Pradesh. The company emphasizes manufacturing excellence, people-centric growth, and responsible industrialization. The Lucknow plant is central to Tata Motors' strategy for a cleaner and more sustainable mobility future as it works toward net-zero emissions.

Workforce, Training, and Sustainability

Established in 1992, the Lucknow plant has become a major production hub for Tata Motors. The facility creates over 8,000 job opportunities, supporting the regional economy and benefiting families throughout Uttar Pradesh. Tata Motors promotes inclusive growth, with women forming a significant part of the workforce. The plant also offers employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The Lucknow facility is a foundation for skill development in the region. Programs such as Kaushalya, Lakshya, and Saksham provide industry-relevant training. Tata Motors collaborates with local communities through the Dual System of Training (DST) and large-scale apprenticeship projects. These initiatives have equipped thousands of young people with skills for stable and respected careers.

The plant prioritizes environmental stewardship. It uses 100% renewable electricity and is certified as water positive by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Digital and Industry 4.0 technologies, including automation, robotics, and AI-enabled platforms, enhance production safety, efficiency, and quality. These efforts reduce the facility's carbon footprint and optimize resource use.

Corporate Developments and Industry Role

Following a Composite Scheme of Arrangement approved by the National Company Law Tribunal, the company's name changed from TML Commercial Vehicles Limited to Tata Motors Limited on October 29, 2025. Its equity shares are listed on BSE Ltd and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited.

The 10 lakh vehicle milestone at Lucknow demonstrates Tata Motors' dedication to innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth. The facility sets a benchmark for future-ready industrial ecosystems in India. As the commercial vehicle sector shifts toward cleaner technologies, Tata Motors is positioned to lead this transformation while supporting economic and community development.
