Key Highlights

  • Rajasthan has 7.81 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer stock for Rabi 2026-27.

  • Available stock includes 3.73 lakh tonnes of urea and 1.04 lakh tonnes of DAP.

  • Fertilizer supply will be monitored continuously across all districts.

  • 744 fertilizer inspectors will check black marketing, hoarding and illegal storage.

  • District-wise fertilizer supply will be planned according to actual demand and Central Government allocations.

The Rajasthan government has started preparations to ensure the adequate and timely availability of fertilizers during the upcoming Rabi sowing season 2026-27. The state has directed officials to strengthen fertilizer monitoring and distribution systems so that farmers do not face shortages of essential agricultural inputs, particularly urea and diammonium phosphate (DAP), during the crucial sowing period.

The government has also emphasised transparent distribution, continuous monitoring of fertilizer stocks and strict action against black marketing, hoarding and other irregularities. The supply of fertilizers to the state is continuing, while arrangements are being made to distribute available stocks according to district-wise demand.

The directions were issued during a recent meeting of the state-level Fertilizer Distribution Regulatory Task Force at the Government Secretariat. The meeting reviewed fertilizer availability, allocation, supply, distribution and quality ahead of the Rabi season.

Chief Secretary V. Srinivas instructed officials to ensure that farmers receive DAP, urea and other required fertilizers without unnecessary delays or distribution-related difficulties.

NPK

Farmers to Receive Fertilizers According to Demand

The state government has instructed officials to ensure the timely lifting and distribution of fertilizers allocated by the Central Government. Better coordination with fertilizer supply companies has also been directed to maintain an uninterrupted supply throughout the sowing season.

The stock, demand and availability of fertilizers will be continuously monitored across all districts. If a district requires additional fertilizer, arrangements will be made for its immediate supply, wherever necessary.

The objective is to ensure that farmers can obtain the fertilizers they need at the right time for sowing Rabi crops. Officials have also been directed to coordinate with fertilizer companies to avoid unnecessary delays in transportation and distribution.

Agricultural Officers to Monitor Fertilizer Distribution Centres

Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Horticulture, Manju Rajpal, stated that the government is strengthening supervision at fertilizer distribution centres to improve transparency and prevent irregularities.

Agricultural supervisors and assistant agricultural officers are being deployed at each distribution centre to oversee fertilizer distribution. Their presence is intended to ensure that fertilizers reach farmers through a transparent process and that any irregularities are identified promptly.

The state government has emphasised that monitoring should cover not only the availability of fertilizers but also their distribution and quality.

744 Fertilizer Inspectors to Check Black Marketing and Hoarding

Rajasthan has deployed 744 fertilizer inspectors to monitor irregularities and take action against those violating fertilizer distribution rules. Their monitoring activities cover black marketing, hoarding, illegal storage and tagging. Tagging refers to practices in which farmers are forced to purchase other agricultural products along with fertilizers to obtain the fertilizer they need.

The government has directed officials to take immediate action according to the applicable rules whenever such violations are detected. In addition, committees established under the Save Mother Earth Campaign are reviewing fertilizer availability and distribution through regular meetings. These efforts are intended to strengthen oversight and help ensure that farmers receive fertilizers without being subjected to unfair sales practices.

District-Wise Fertilizer Supply Plan Based on Actual Demand

The Central Government allocates fertilizers to states on a monthly and company-wise basis. Rajasthan is preparing district-wise supply plans based on the allocations received and the actual fertilizer requirements of individual districts.

Officials and fertilizer companies have been asked to coordinate closely to ensure timely supplies during the Rabi sowing season. Regular monitoring of existing stocks, upcoming supplies and district-level demand will help the state identify areas that may require additional fertilizer.

The task force meeting was attended by Dr. Samit Sharma, Secretary to the Government, Cooperation; Naresh Kumar Goyal, Agriculture Commissioner; and senior representatives from major fertilizer companies, including IFFCO, Kribhco, IPL, CFCL, NFL and HURL.

The government has reiterated that close coordination between departments, district officials and fertilizer suppliers will be essential to maintaining a smooth distribution system throughout the Rabi season.
