PM-RKVY Gets ₹335 Crore Boost: Centre Approves Funds to Strengthen Agriculture Development and Modern Farming

The Central Government has approved ₹335 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM-RKVY) to accelerate agricultural development across the country. The approved funds will be used to promote modern farming, improve agricultural infrastructure, strengthen horticulture, encourage mechanization, and increase farmers income through various development projects.

The announcement came during a review meeting chaired by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who directed officials to ensure that government schemes are implemented efficiently and that their benefits reach farmers in a transparent and timely manner.

Centre Reviews Progress of Key Agriculture Schemes

A virtual review meeting was held in New Delhi, where Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the implementation of major agriculture schemes with state agriculture ministers, Union Agriculture Secretaries, and senior officials from both the Centre and the states.

The meeting focused on ensuring effective utilization of approved funds and speeding up ongoing agricultural projects. Key schemes reviewed included:

The Union Minister instructed officials to complete pending projects within the stipulated timeline so that farmers can receive benefits without delay.

Over 75% PM-RKVY Funds Already Utilised

During the review, Shivraj Singh Chouhan appreciated the progress made under PM-RKVY. He informed that more than 75% of the approved funds under the scheme have already been utilized on time, while over 80% of the funds have been spent under several other components of the programme.

He said the real objective of government schemes is not just budget allocation but ensuring that farmers receive direct benefits. He urged all departments to maintain the same pace of implementation and complete remaining work on schedule.

Horticulture Scheme Shows Strong Progress

The review also covered the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). According to the Union Minister, 81.73% of the funds allocated under MIDH have already been utilized, reflecting satisfactory implementation.

He highlighted that horticulture plays an important role in increasing farmers income and promoting crop diversification. Expanding the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, spices, and other horticultural crops can offer farmers higher returns compared to traditional farming, making effective implementation of the scheme a priority.
