The Haryana Government has released ₹107 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to support the construction of permanent houses for eligible rural families. The financial assistance has been transferred as the first installment directly into the bank accounts of 20,165 beneficiaries, allowing house construction to begin at a faster pace.
The move is expected to help thousands of poor and homeless families move closer to owning a safe and permanent home under the Central Government's flagship rural housing scheme.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini transferred the funds during a programme held in Chandigarh, where financial assistance under multiple welfare schemes was disbursed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
During the event, the Haryana Government transferred a total of ₹1,582.16 crore to 50,20,460 beneficiaries across 19 public welfare schemes. Among these, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin received a major allocation, with ₹107 crore released to eligible families as the first installment for house construction.
The use of the DBT system ensures that financial assistance reaches beneficiaries directly in their bank accounts, improving transparency and eliminating the role of middlemen.
According to the Haryana Government, a total of ₹827.22 crore has been released under PMAY-G in the state so far.
Under the scheme:
76,466 houses have been approved.
41,260 houses have already been completed.
Construction is currently underway on 35,206 houses.
The government said that timely release of installments will help speed up construction and enable eligible families to complete their homes without unnecessary delays.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) is the Central Government's flagship rural housing scheme designed to provide pucca houses to poor families living in kutcha houses or those who are homeless in rural areas.
Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance in phased installments, with each payment linked to the progress of house construction. The funds are transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The objective of PMAY-G is to provide safe, secure, and dignified housing while ensuring transparency in the distribution of financial assistance.
The benefits of the scheme are provided to eligible rural families identified through the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) and other government eligibility criteria.
Priority is generally given to:
Homeless rural families
Families living in kutcha houses
Other eligible households identified under the prescribed guidelines
Beneficiaries are selected based on recommendations made by the Gram Sabha and the official verification process.
Once a beneficiary is approved under PMAY-G, the financial assistance is released in multiple installments according to the progress of house construction.
Each installment is credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account through DBT, helping families continue construction without financial interruptions while maintaining transparency throughout the process.
The Haryana Government has advised applicants and eligible beneficiaries under PMAY-G to regularly monitor the status of their applications and installment payments through the concerned department or the official PMAY-G portal.
Beneficiaries can also obtain information regarding eligibility, beneficiary lists, and payment status from their Gram Panchayat, Block Office, or the District Rural Development Department.
With the latest ₹107 crore financial assistance, thousands of eligible rural families in Haryana are expected to begin or accelerate the construction of their permanent homes, bringing them one step closer to fulfilling the dream of owning a secure and dignified house.
