India's battery market has a total demand of 3GWh and is expected to grow to 20GWh in 2026 and 70GWh in 2030.

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) and iM3NY have announced a collaboration to bring battery cell technology to the Indian market for the first time from the subcontinent. For the entire range of OSM's electric vehicles, the company has developed 6 variants ranging from 7.5 KW to 34 KW.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economy experienced a meltdown, posing significant challenges for the global EV supply chain. With slower shipments, global political unrest, price increases across raw material sources, inflated demand, and strained relations with the Chinese economy, India has prioritized the Atmanirbhar mission.
India's battery market has a total demand of 3GWh and is expected to grow to 20GWh in 2026 and 70GWh in 2030. India requires quality-oriented focus and delivery in addition to increased battery pack manufacturing capacity. Currently, the segment's players are focusing on local manufacturing using local materials and technology.
In the United States, iM3NY is a market leader in Li-ion batteries. iM3NY operates a Gigafactory in upstate New York, founded by a group of companies including C4V, Magnis Energy Technology, and others, and led by ex-Tesla employee Chaitanya Sharma. The company is interested in both the ESS and EV markets. According to an OSM press release, iM3NY Li-ion cells use a cutting-edge and distinct technology known as Bio mineralised Lithium Mixed Metal Phosphate (BM-LMP). This will result in higher-performing batteries for EV applications.
iM3NY CEO Chaitanya Sharma stated, "The partnership is strategically important for the electrification of the automotive industry."
Omega Seiki Mobility will establish two New Green Field Manufacturing facilities to manufacture the components at this time. In Delhi NCR and Pune, the company already has four cutting-edge manufacturing facilities for its electric vehicles. Omega Seiki Mobility is India's first fully integrated electric OEM, producing its own battery packs, power trains, metal assemblies, vehicles, and mobility solutions.
