The Prime Minister's e-Bus programme is a significant initiative aimed at revolutionizing India's public transportation system by transitioning to eco-friendly electric buses.
Olectra Greentech, a major player in the electric vehicle (EV) business, wants to be a part of the Prime Minister's e-Bus Program, which is anticipated to issue a tender for 10,000 electric buses soon.
This ambitious move is in line with the Indian government's steadfast commitment to promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions in the country.
The Prime Minister's e-Bus programme is a significant initiative aimed at revolutionizing India's public transportation system by transitioning to eco-friendly electric buses. With a goal of deploying 10,000 electric buses across various cities, this initiative seeks to enhance urban mobility while addressing environmental concerns.
KV Pradeep, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Olectra Greentech, stated that tenders for the much-anticipated e-Bus Programme could be launched as soon as next month. The goal of this program, which is a cornerstone of India's effort for sustainable urban mobility, is to bring 10,000 electric buses into the country's public transportation system.
"10,000 units are required by the government of India's recently announced PM e-Bus program. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is currently in discussions with various stakeholders, and the government is likely to issue this tender by next month," he said.

The order book demonstrates Olectra Greentech's commitment to participating in India's electric transportation infrastructure. Pradeep previously stated that the company has orders for 9,000 electric buses. Olectra Greentech plans to deploy at least 1,200 of these buses during the following 24 to 30 months.
Olectra Greentech is investing in manufacturing facilities to meet the growing demand for electric buses. The Telangana government has given the corporation a spacious 150-acre plot of land in Hyderabad for the building of a world-class manufacturing facility. Pradeep highlighted that this facility will be critical to their ambitious growth objectives.
He also said that the corporation is working hard to build a cutting-edge manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. This 150-acre plant is planned to have a production capacity of 5,000 buses or trucks per year.
As the deadline for submitting bids for the Prime Minister's e-Bus programme tender approaches, Olectra Greentech's decision to participate reflects its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions and its belief in the potential of electric buses to transform India's transportation landscape.
If successful, this venture could represent a significant step forward in India's journey towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, with Olectra Greentech leading the way in the electric bus sector.
Olectra Greentech, which has been at the forefront of India's electric vehicle (EV) industry, is poised to make a strong bid for this monumental tender. Known for its high-quality electric buses, the company has established a strong presence in the Indian market, providing efficient and eco-friendly public transportation solutions.

Participating in the Prime Minister's e-Bus programme tender aligns perfectly with Olectra Greentech's mission to contribute to a cleaner and greener India. By offering state-of-the-art electric buses, the company aims to facilitate a smooth transition from traditional diesel-powered buses to electric ones, significantly reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the process.
The tender for 10,000 electric buses represents a massive opportunity for Olectra Greentech to expand its footprint in the electric mobility sector. Winning a substantial portion of this tender could catapult the company into a leading position in the Indian electric bus market and further solidify its reputation as a key player in the EV industry.
