Passengers and drivers will both contribute to the Ride-Hailing Experience Fund through a customer fee, as announced by Namma Yatri, the well-known ride-hailing app for auto-rickshaw drivers.

Namma Yatri, in partnership with the Bangalore Auto Rickshaw Driver's Union (AARDU) and JuicePay Technologies, has developed a ride-hailing app. It has announced that it will start collecting customer fees from auto-rickshaw drivers starting from September 1st.

According to the notices, drivers have two options: either pay ₹25 per day for unlimited rides or pay ₹3.50 per ride for up to ten rides per day.

As per the company, the monthly fee will be used to cover the expenses of passenger's engineering, R&D, marketing, and mapping. To save money, the ultimate goal is to open and switch applications.

Some drivers are concerned about increasing costs over time. In response, Shane AMS, Chief Development Officer at JustPay, promised that the new subscription model guarantees a fixed price for at least a year, meaning any price hikes will only be implemented after September 1, 2024.

The company states that over 35,000 drivers have already opted for the customer plan, completing nearly 7,500 processes organically. More than 89,000 drivers and 1.7 million users are using the app. In the app, over the past nine months, over 90,000 daily rides and 7.9 million trips have been recorded.

The initiation of customer fees reinforces Namma Yatri's innovation and continuous improvement commitment. As the ride-hailing industry evolves, it sets an example for alternative models for other platforms to enhance driver empowerment and amplify consumer experiences.

Passengers can also anticipate enhanced ride experiences as the customer fee competes with rental rates, guarantees vehicle availability during peak hours, and offers a reliable service throughout the day.

By launching this customer fee for auto-rickshaw drivers, the company is investing in their growth and equipping them with tools needed to thrive in a competitive market. It will enhance the quality of their service, benefiting the passengers they serve.

Namma Yatri's next step is to reshape the future of ride-hailing, with a comprehensive and pleasant environment created for all stakeholders in the ride-hailing industry.
