Mustard prices continued to strengthen in major markets across the country on June 23, 2026, supported by active buying from oil mills, limited stocks with farmers, and short-covering by traders. While mustard arrivals remain at normal levels, strong demand has helped prices move higher in key markets of Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi.

Market experts believe that apart from actual demand, short-covering by traders has also contributed to the recent rise in mustard prices. Farmers and traders are now closely tracking domestic edible oil demand, mustard arrivals, global edible oil trends, and monsoon progress to assess future market direction.

According to the latest market data, conditioned mustard in Jaipur increased by ₹25 to reach ₹7,925 per quintal. Bharatpur recorded one of the sharpest gains, with prices rising by ₹95 to ₹7,470 per quintal.

Other major markets also witnessed firm prices:

  • Charkhi Dadri: ₹7,750 per quintal

Mustard Arrivals Remain Normal Across the Country

According to market reports, daily mustard arrivals across the country remained around 5.25 lakh bags. Although arrivals are normal, limited stocks with farmers and steady buying activity are keeping prices firm.

Strong procurement by oil mills is also supporting the market and preventing any major price correction.

Mustard Oil and Cake Market Remains Strong

The mustard oil segment continues to show strength. Prices of crude mustard oil and expeller mustard oil remained stable to firm due to improving demand and limited availability.

Demand for mustard cake from the animal husbandry sector also remains healthy, encouraging crushing activities and supporting overall mustard demand.

Global Edible Oil Market Gives Mixed Signals

The global edible oil market is currently witnessing mixed trends.

Malaysian palm oil prices have shown fluctuations in recent weeks. While higher production prospects may increase supply, export demand is helping support prices.

At the same time, improved soybean production in South America is putting pressure on soybean oil prices. However, firm crude oil prices and strong biodiesel demand continue to support the broader edible oil market.

Indian traders are also closely watching developments in the Canadian canola market. Any decline in canola or soybean oil prices could increase competition in India's edible oil sector and potentially affect mustard oil demand. Despite these concerns, the domestic mustard market remains relatively strong.

What Is the Future Trend for Mustard Prices?

Market experts believe that the recent rally is partly driven by short-covering. Many traders had earlier created selling positions expecting prices to fall. As prices started improving, they began closing those positions, which added further support to the market.

Experts suggest that mustard prices may continue to remain firm if oil mill buying stays strong and arrivals do not increase significantly in the coming weeks.

The progress of the monsoon will also play a key role. Good rainfall could boost Kharif crop sowing, improve rural economic activity, and support overall demand in agricultural commodity markets, including oilseeds.

Advice for Farmers and Traders

Current market signals indicate that mustard prices are in a recovery phase. However, experts advise caution before considering the rally as a long-term trend.

Farmers are advised to sell their produce in phases rather than making bulk sales at once. Traders should closely monitor domestic buying activity, mustard arrivals, international edible oil prices, and developments in global oilseed markets before taking major positions.

Important Note

The prices mentioned above represent the maximum mustard prices reported in different markets. Actual prices may vary depending on quality, moisture content, variety, and local demand conditions. Since market rates change daily, farmers should verify prices with their nearest mandi before buying or selling their produce.

CMV360 Says

Mustard prices are showing strength across major markets due to steady demand, active oil mill purchases, and limited stocks with farmers. While normal arrivals continue, market sentiment remains positive. However, global edible oil trends, monsoon progress, and domestic demand will determine future price direction. Farmers should follow a phased selling strategy and stay updated on market developments, while traders should closely monitor international oilseed and edible oil markets.
