Movin will first test electric two-wheelers and electric three-wheelers for last-mile deliveries, electric three-wheelers and electric four-wheelers for the hub to first mile, and vice versa, before deploying EVs in India.

MOVIN Express, a joint venture between UPS and InterGlobe Enterprises in India, is interested in incorporating electric vehicles into its logistics fleet. In addition to EVs, Movin is InterGlobe's first foray into the logistics sector, UPS has previously operated in the country. Movin is eager to investigate more alternative fuel types in India.
JB Singh, Director, MOVIN Express, stated that the company has been in active conversations with EV OEMs and EV fleet providers about the project. Since its inception in May 2022, the JV has delivered over 400,000 lakh items.
The company only moves goods in the apparel, FMCG, white goods, electronics, IT peripherals, automotive components, and healthcare equipment sectors, and it only operates in the B2B logistics vertical.
Singh emphasized that the Capex component is 'not at all' an issue for the company because it is extending its presence in the country in a methodical manner. It currently only covers 49 cities in India.
"There is a big difference in the B2C segment and B2B segment," he said. He also stated that the B2B industry has more responsibility and accountability.
For example, while transporting automotive components to an OEM, it must not only ensure that the components arrive on schedule, but also that they are free of wear and tear.
While the company now employs approximately 400 vehicles, phase 2 of its expansion plans hopes to significantly increase this number. The company will add more zip codes every day and will try to expand its network across the whole country.
Furthermore, EVs are simply one component of UPS's fleet objectives to promote environmental sustainability through alternative fuel and innovative technologies.
Notably, UPS intends to attain carbon neutrality by 2050 and to use 40% alternative fuel in ground operations by 2025. Interestingly, these initiatives may find their way to India via Movin. However, the country's EV and alternative fuel ecosystems are not as developed as those in Europe and North America.
Movin will first test electric two-wheelers and electric three-wheelers for last-mile deliveries, electric three-wheelers and electric four-wheelers for the hub to first mile, and vice versa, before deploying EVs in India.
Movin is open to interaction with EV fleet operators, EV OEMs, and charge point operators. As per the senior officials, the company hopes that within a few months, Movin will be able to deploy the first fleet of EVs for Movin in India.
