Montra Electric, an EV brand of the Murugappa Group based in Tamil Nadu, introduced its latest offering, the Super Auto, in Tirunelveli. The company marked the occasion by delivering the first 10 units to customers.
Montra Electric is providing the Super Auto with a 3-year / 100,000 km warranty. Customers also have the choice to opt for an additional extended warranty of two years/50 km.
Piyush Pandey, Head of Marketing & Exports at Montra Electric, emphasized Super Auto's innovation and industry-first features. He mentioned that these features aim to redefine the market, offering customers a greater return on their investment through fuel and maintenance savings. N Senthil Kumar, MD of RR Greenline Motors and the dealer partner for Montra Electric in Tirunelveli highlighted the environmental benefits of electric three-wheelers. He pointed out that apart from contributing to a cleaner environment, electric autos enable drivers to save Rs 300 to Rs 400 per day on fuel bills, considering their average daily running of 100-150 km.
Piyush Pandey reaffirmed Montra Electric's commitment to producing vehicles that not only last longer but also contribute to safeguarding the environment for future generations.
In November 2023, the Montra Super Auto won the International Red Dot Design Award in the 'Design Concept' category. The award specifically recognized its innovative design in the 'Last Mile Mobility Electric Passenger Vehicle' category.
The Super Auto has a top speed of 55kph and can accelerate from 0 to 20kph in just 4 seconds. This three-wheeler has a seating capacity of four people, including the driver. Back in December 2021, TI Cycles of India (TII), which is part of the Murugappa Group, introduced the Montra brand to spearhead its Electric Vehicles (EVs) business in three major segments – last-mile commute, last-mile delivery, and personal mobility.
In the initial phase, the company launched its products in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. The Super Auto will be accessible at various points of sale in these states, making it available to a wide audience.
