Inspired by Madhya Pradesh's Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana, this initiative has gained widespread appreciation, helping the ruling Mahayuti alliance secure a decisive victory.

Key Updates: Increased Benefits for Women
Following the elections, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced an increase in monthly financial aid under the scheme. Women will now receive ₹2,100 instead of ₹1,500. This raise fulfills a pre-election promise made by the Mahayuti alliance. Over 2.34 crore women have already benefited from the scheme, and an additional 13 lakh beneficiaries are also expected to join starting December after Aadhaar seeding issues are resolved.
Financial Implications for the Government
With the increased payout, the government will face a higher financial burden. Initially, ₹35,000 crore was allocated for the scheme, but this amount will now require an adjustment to cover the additional ₹600 per beneficiary each month.
Progress So Far
Since its launch in July 2025, the scheme has provided much-needed financial aid to women, empowering them economically. Women have received ₹7,500 each across five installments, and the sixth installment is expected in December. The delay in disbursement is due to the enforcement of the election code of conduct in November.
Eligibility and Impact
The scheme is open to women aged 21 to 60 years who are permanent residents of Maharashtra with an annual family income of less than ₹2.5 lakh. Married, unmarried, and divorced women meeting these criteria can apply.
The program has a strong focus on uplifting women from financially weaker sections, enabling them to become self-reliant. Pune district has the highest number of beneficiaries, followed by Mumbai, Nashik, and Thane.

The government is set to resume fund disbursements in December, bringing hope to millions of women awaiting financial aid. With the Mahayuti alliance back in power, expectations are high for further enhancements to the scheme, which aims to improve the living standards of women and their families across the state.
