Mahindra and Mahindra's Last Mile Mobility (LMM) division has signed a distribution agreement with SLA Mobility (SLAML) for electric 3-wheelers in Sri Lanka to export the Treo and Zor Grand.
SLA Mobility will provide distribution and service support under the terms of the agreement, which was signed on January 18, 2023. LMM will export the Treo electric range as well as the Zor Grand. These vehicles will be imported into the country with the approval of the Sri Lankan government. Mahindra is also looking into localisation or contract manufacturing in Sri Lanka.
Suman Mishra, CEO of Last Mile Mobility, stated that the introduction of Mahindra EVs will greatly benefit Sri Lanka's ecosystem and that the company, in collaboration with SLA Mobility, aims to improve the lives of its customers.
"We believe that development in the electric mobility industry is essential for Sri Lanka's transportation ecosystem," said Bob Kundanmal, Chairman of SLA Mobility.
As per the press release from LMM, the company currently exports its products to Nepal and the United Kingdom. The company claimed that there are also ongoing export talks with a few other countries, which will be announced in due course.
The LMM division is in charge of Mahindra's three- and four-wheeler passenger and cargo vehicles that run on petrol, CNG, diesel, and electricity. The Mahindra Jeeto four-wheeler, the Alfa three-wheeler range, and the electric-only Zor Grand and Treo range are among them.
