On the 75th Republic Day, one of the exciting events was the parade that took place on Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The parade showcased India's rich cultural diversity, unity, and progress through state tableaus and displayed the country's military strength with the use of advanced technology.

A highlight of the parade was the participation of Mahindra Armado tactical vehicles, which are specially designed and developed by Mahindra Defence Systems (MDS), a part of Mahindra & Mahindra. These vehicles demonstrate India's growing capability in indigenous defence technologies.

Vinod Sahay, President of Mahindra Aerospace & Defense, Chief Purchase Officer of M&M, and Chairman of FICCI Committee of Defense & Homeland Security, shared the pride in a tweet. He mentioned that "Bharat’s first Advanced Light Specialist Vehicle proudly made its first Republic Day appearance on Kartavya Path in its two avatars (LSV and VMIMS)."

Overall, the Republic Day celebrations honoured the history and unity of India and also highlighted the nation's progress, including advancements in defence technology.

In March 2021, Mahindra Defence Systems won a big contract to make Armoured Tactical Vehicles (LSV) for the Indian Army. These vehicles are for carrying weapons. The production of Mahindra Armado started, and on June 16, 2023, the first batch was delivered to the armed forces.

This Armado vehicle can be used for many things. It's great for counter-terrorism, like patrolling high-risk areas, special forces work, and quick reaction teams. It can also be a weapon carrier, a reconnaissance vehicle, and even for border security or raids in open or desert places.

Armado runs on a 3.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It offers a maximum power of 215hp and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The engine can run on NATO-grade diesel too. All that power goes to the four wheels through a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The Armado can zoom at a top speed of over 120kph and go from 0 to 60kph in just 12 seconds! It comes with a payload capacity of 1,000kg.
