Madhya Pradesh Government to Register 50 Lakh Land Leases Free of Cost; ₹4,000 Crore to Be Spent

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a major relief for farmers and landowners whose land leases have not yet been registered. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the state government will bear the entire registration cost for around 50 lakh land leases across Madhya Pradesh.

The announcement was made while addressing farmers during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Rewa. According to the Chief Minister, eligible leaseholders will not have to pay registration charges, with the government proposing an expenditure of around ₹4,000 crore for the exercise.

Free Registration for 50 Lakh Leases

Under the announcement, people who hold land leases but have not completed their registration will be able to get them registered without paying the registration fee. The entire cost will be borne by the Madhya Pradesh government.

The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 50 lakh leaseholders in the state. It is aimed at providing greater security over land rights and reducing the financial burden associated with registering existing leases.

Narmada Water to Reach Rewa Fields

The Chief Minister also highlighted major irrigation plans for Rewa district. He said that construction of the Sleemanabad Tunnel is nearing completion. Once completed, there is a plan to supply Narmada water to the fields of Rewa.

The project is expected to support both irrigation and drinking water needs in the region. In addition, the completion of the Tyonthar, Lonhi, Sirmour and Semriya irrigation projects is expected to provide irrigation facilities to around 1.32 lakh hectares of land in Rewa district.

This expansion of irrigation coverage could increase the availability of water for farming and support agricultural activity across the district.

₹4,967 Crore for Irrigation Projects

The Madhya Pradesh government has also approved the continuation of three irrigation projects in Neemuch and Rajgarh for the next five years. Around ₹4,967 crore will be spent on these projects, with a combined objective of increasing irrigation capacity across more than 88,000 hectares.

The approved allocations include:

• Jawad-Neemuch Pressurized Micro Irrigation Project: Around ₹4,197 crore

• Suthaliya Irrigation Project, Rajgarh: Around ₹262.63 crore

• Parvati Rinsi Irrigation Project: Around ₹507.23 crore

The Suthaliya project is planned to increase irrigation capacity by around 40,000 hectares, while the Parvati Rinsi project is expected to add irrigation capacity across around 48,000 hectares.

Natural Farming Cluster Planned in Rewa

The government is also focusing on natural farming and crop diversification in Rewa. A 1,000-hectare natural farming cluster is planned in the district.

Farmers are being trained in natural farming practices, including the preparation and use of Jeevamrit and Ghan Jeevamrit, through the Natural Farming Training Center at Basman Mama Cow Sanctuary.

Rewa also produces horticultural crops such as guava, amla and jackfruit on a large scale. The state is additionally promoting Kodo-Kutki and other Srianna crops under the State Millet Mission to encourage crop diversification.

CM Interacts With Progressive Farmers

During the Balram Krishi Mahotsav, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav also interacted directly with four progressive farmers from Rewa. He discussed their experiences with traditional farming, modern agricultural technology and new farming experiments.

The farmers shared how modern agricultural equipment and organic fertilisers are being used to make farming more productive and profitable.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, Apex Bank Administrator Mahendra Singh Yadav, Vindhya Development Authority Chairman Panchulal Prajapati, Vice Chairman Praveen Tripathi and District Panchayat President Neeta Kol were among the public representatives and farmers present at the event.
