Farmers in Madhya Pradesh have received several important announcements related to agricultural loans, fertilizer availability, Farmer IDs and irrigation facilities. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that farmers will no longer be required to repay their agricultural loans by the fixed deadline of March 31.
Under the new arrangement, farmers will be able to repay their agricultural loans at any time according to their convenience within a one-year period. This will allow them to make repayments after selling their crops and receiving income from the harvest.
The announcements were made by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav while virtually addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav organised at Krishi Upaj Mandi Piparsama in Shivpuri district from New Delhi. The government says these measures are aimed at reducing difficulties for farmers and ensuring easier access to important agricultural services.
Earlier, farmers faced a fixed March 31 deadline for repaying their agricultural loans. The government has now removed this obligation.
Farmers will be able to deposit their loan amount at any time during the one-year repayment period, depending on when they have sufficient funds available. This change is expected to be particularly helpful for farmers whose income depends on the sale of crops.
Instead of arranging money simply to meet a fixed deadline, farmers can now plan their repayments according to crop sales and the availability of cash. The move is expected to reduce repayment pressure and make agricultural loan management easier.
The Chief Minister also announced an important facility to help farmers purchase fertilizers when needed. Under the new arrangement, farmers will be provided fertilizers in advance at 0 percent interest. The objective is to ensure that a shortage of immediate funds does not stop farmers from getting fertilizers at the right time.
Timely availability of fertilizer is important for crop growth, and the government aims to ensure that farming operations are not affected because a farmer is unable to arrange money immediately. With the zero-interest advance facility, farmers are expected to get better support in meeting their fertilizer requirements during the crop season.
Madhya Pradesh has also implemented the e-Vikas 2.0 system for fertilizer distribution. According to the announcement, the new system will give farmers greater flexibility while purchasing fertilizers.
Farmers will not be forced to buy fertilizers in any mandatory combination. They will be able to purchase individual fertilizers according to their crop and farming requirements.
This means farmers can choose products such as urea, DAP and NPK based on their specific needs. The system is expected to make fertilizer distribution more farmer-friendly and help farmers use fertilizers according to crop requirements.
The state government has also launched a special campaign to create Farmer IDs across Madhya Pradesh from August 20, 2026. Under this campaign, farmers will not have to visit government offices or stand in long queues to complete the process. Government teams will travel from village to village and help farmers create their Farmer IDs.
The Farmer ID initiative is expected to connect farmers more easily with digital agricultural services and various government schemes. Farmers have been urged to take advantage of the campaign and get their Farmer IDs created.
Another important announcement concerns electricity for irrigation. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that farmers cultivating gram and sugarcane will be provided electricity during the daytime for irrigation from next year.
The move is expected to reduce the difficulties faced by farmers who currently have to travel to their fields and manage irrigation during the night. With daytime electricity, farmers will be able to irrigate their crops more conveniently and safely.
During the programme, the Chief Minister praised the peanuts grown in Shivpuri district and said that they are gaining recognition across the country.
He also encouraged farmers to create additional income sources alongside traditional agriculture. Farmers were advised to explore activities such as:
Horticulture
Dairy farming
Fisheries
Animal husbandry
Home-stays
The aim is to help farming families increase their income through activities connected with agriculture and rural businesses.
The Chief Minister further stated that farmers are receiving Rs 12,000 every year under the combined support of the Central and State Governments through the Kisan Samman Nidhi.
This financial assistance can help farmers meet important agricultural expenses, including the purchase of fertilizers, seeds and other farming-related requirements.

The latest announcements by the Madhya Pradesh government could provide important relief to farmers.
