Farmers in Uttar Pradesh have received major relief ahead of the Kharif 2026 season. The state government has completed preparations to provide certified and high-quality seeds to farmers at a 50 percent subsidy. The move is expected to help farmers get seeds on time and avoid delays in sowing during the upcoming season.

The Uttar Pradesh government has set a target of distributing 199,910 quintals of certified seeds for Kharif 2026. Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi reviewed the preparations with department officials and instructed that seeds must reach purchasing centers in all districts by May 31, 2026.

He clearly stated that no negligence will be tolerated in the seed distribution process, as timely sowing is important for better crop production.

Seed Supply Process Moving Fast

According to the Agriculture Department, 75,429 quintals of certified seeds have already been delivered to different centers across the state. Out of this, 2,636 quintals have already been distributed to farmers.

Officials said the remaining target will be completed within the next few days so that farmers do not face any shortage during sowing.

Seeds Will Be Available for These Crops

This year, the government is focusing not only on paddy but also on pulses, oilseeds, and coarse grains. Targets for major crops have already been fixed.

Multiple Agencies Running Joint Campaign

To make the seed distribution campaign successful, several organizations are working together with the Agriculture Department. These include the Cooperative Department, IFFDC, HIL, and other agencies.

The Agriculture Department alone has been given responsibility for distributing 189,990 quintals of seeds across the state.
