Gujarat Chief Minister Flags Off Switch EiV 22 Buses

Switch Mobility created history at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. The iconic Switch EiV 22 double-decker bus was flagged off by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel at GIFT City, signifying a huge leap in sustainable urban transit.

Manufactured and designed by Switch Mobility, the Switch EiV 22 stands as the first electric double-decker bus in its class, symbolising a strong commitment to redefining the urban transportation landscape in India.

As part of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation's (GSRTC) initiative to enhance public transportation in the state, five Switch EiV 22 electric buses have been acquired. These buses are set to operate on the Gandhinagar to Ahmedabad route along the SG Highway, presenting a sustainable commuting solution for the region. Switch Mobility will be responsible for these five electric buses' supply, operation, and maintenance.

Mahesh Babu, the CEO of Switch Mobility Automotive, expressed pride in contributing to Gujarat's vision of sustainable progress. The Switch EiV 22 buses will become iconic attractions on the Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad route, promising passengers a panoramic, comfortable, and electrifying commuting experience. The buses feature spacious interiors, premium seating, and innovative elements such as extra-wide doors, ensuring elevated commuter comfort.

The Switch EiV 22 was launched in August 2022, with a modern double-decker design and entirely electric capabilities, transforming intra-city bus travel in India. The bus incorporates modern technology, such as an India-tailored AC system, emergency exits for safety compliance, and extra-wide doors, to make for cleaner and smarter rides.

Customized with a focus on cleaner and smarter journeys, the Switch EiV 22 incorporates cutting-edge technology tailored to the Indian context. Among its notable features is an India-specific AC system, ensuring optimal comfort for passengers even in the country's diverse climatic conditions. Additionally, the inclusion of extra-wide doors enhances accessibility and convenience for commuters.

Switch Mobility's commitment to sustainable transportation extends beyond the Switch EiV 22. The company currently operates an extensive fleet of nearly 600 buses that seamlessly operate in major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. Switch Mobility has covered over 50 million eco-friendly kilometers since 2018.
