The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) released its October 2025 retail sales data for commercial vehicles (CVs), showing a strong rebound across all segments. A total of 1,07,841 units were sold during the month, a 49.52% MoM jump from 72,124 units in September 2025, and a 17.69% YoY increase over 91,635 units in October 2024.
This impressive rise reflects higher festive season demand, improved freight movement, and stronger fleet replacement trends across India.

Total Commercial Vehicle (CV) Sales Performance: In October 2025, total commercial vehicle sales in India stood at 1,07,841 units, marking a strong 49.52% month-on-month (MoM) growth compared to 72,124 units in September 2025. On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, sales also grew by 17.69% over October 2024’s 91,635 units. This impressive growth reflects a rebound in demand across logistics, infrastructure, and rural transportation sectors, supported by festive season momentum and increased fleet purchases.
Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV): The LCV segment remained the top contributor with 72,948 units, showing robust 64.33% MoM and 29.84% YoY growth. Strong logistics and rural transport demand supported the segment’s momentum.
Medium Commercial Vehicles (MCV): The MCV segment grew steadily to 7,177 units, marking 14.70% MoM and 19.78% YoY increases. Rising intra-state transport activities and industrial demand aided growth.
Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV): HCV sales reached 27,685 units, reflecting a 29.31% MoM rise but a 5.76% YoY dip. While infrastructure demand stayed healthy, higher input costs limited large fleet purchases.
Others: The “Others” category posted 31 units, falling 52.31% MoM and 63.53% YoY, representing minor OEMs with niche applications.

Mahindra & Mahindra dominated October 2025 retail sales with 37,188 units and a 34.48% market share, up from 27,732 units (30.26%) last year. The company’s strong presence in the LCV and pickup segments continues to drive its leadership.
Tata Motors followed closely with 34,838 units and a 32.30% market share, slightly down from 33.43% last year. Its diverse product portfolio ensures strong positioning across LCV and HCV segments.
Ashok Leyland sold 16,557 units, capturing 15.35% of the market, compared to 17.36% last year. Despite a slight decline, the company remains strong in heavy truck and bus categories.
VECV achieved 7,598 units, maintaining a 7.05% share, supported by steady sales of Eicher-branded trucks and buses.
Maruti Suzuki reported 6,058 units, up from 5,253 units in October 2024, holding a 5.62% market share. Its Super Carry remains a popular choice in the small CV segment.
Daimler India recorded 1,871 units in October 2025, slightly below 1,903 units from last year. Its 1.73% market share shows stable performance, though competition in the premium truck and bus segments remains intense.
Force Motors achieved 1,823 units, a healthy rise from 1,400 units last year, capturing 1.69% of the market. Demand for its passenger and goods carriers, especially in rural and tourism applications, continues to grow.
SML Isuzu sold 932 units in October 2025, compared to 1,000 units a year ago. The brand held 0.86% market share, facing slight pressure in institutional and passenger transport demand.
Other smaller manufacturers collectively sold 976 units, up from 647 units last year, representing 0.91% market share. These include niche and emerging OEMs with specialized offerings.
The FADA Retail CV Sales Report for October 2025 shows a robust recovery in India’s commercial vehicle market. Mahindra & Mahindra claimed the top spot, while Tata Motors closely followed.
With strong gains in LCV and MCV categories, and growing interest in electric and sustainable mobility options, the overall outlook for the sector remains positive. Continued infrastructure activity and freight demand are expected to drive further growth in the coming months.
