EKA Mobility, Pinnacle Industries' electric vehicle division, will use NuPort Robotics Advanced Driver Assistance System in its electric bus. As a result, NuPort's AI-enabled autonomous solutions on the EV platform will provide a seamless driving experience. Because of the currently operational module, EKA Mobility is the first Indian company to introduce ADAS features to the country with its electric buses.
As per the press release, the two will soon release a working demonstration of their ADAS functionality. This technology will be used on 5,000 EKA Mobility electric buses over the next few years. It plans to significantly reduce accident rates in the coming years.
EKA has already tested a variety of autonomous features developed by NuPort, an advanced technology that promises to contribute to significant improvements in safety, environmental footprint reduction, and operational efficiency.
Over 5000 buses will be equipped with the technology, representing a minimum investment of nearly INR 150 crore in innovation and contributing to the future of transportation and sustainability. Such technologies are used in commercial vehicles and have been linked to a 50% reduction in crash rates. The driver will also be warned if a collision with another vehicle is imminent, allowing him to avoid potentially dangerous situations.
Sudhir Mehta, Chairman of EKA and Pinnacle Industries, stated that the company believes in thinking globally and acting locally. The country’s public transportation will become more technologically advanced, efficient, and safe.
NuPort Robotics CEO Raghavender Sahdev added that the company would deploy the technology with EKA across India in the coming years.
EKA's mission is to provide sustainable, profitable, and efficient EV solutions in order to accelerate the mass adoption of new-energy vehicles. They are reinventing the design philosophy and manufacturing of electric vehicles at EKA. With best-in-class TCO (total cost of ownership) solutions and sustainable ecosystems, the company is developing sharable technologies to democratize EVs.
