EKA Mobility will deploy 310 electric buses in three Indian states, aiming to cut 140,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. JBM Auto leads with 5,000 orders, while Tata Motors and PMI hold significant order books. Pinnacle Industries targets INR 750 crore revenue.

JBM Auto currently leads the electric bus market with 5,000 orders from both state transport undertakings and private companies. Tata Motors has an order book of 2,600 electric buses and has already delivered over 900 units. PMI has delivered 1,200 electric buses nationwide and holds orders for about 2,500 more. Switch Mobility has over 1,000 orders, while EKA Mobility and Pinnacle together have around 500 orders.
EKA’s electric buses are fully designed and manufactured in India. This supports the government’s push for domestic manufacturing in the electric vehicle sector.
Pune-based Pinnacle Industries specializes in commercial vehicle seating systems and interior trims. The company also manufactures specialty vehicles, including tourers, motorhomes, and refrigerated cargo vans. In 2021, Pinnacle expanded into the railway segment, further diversifying its business operations.
Driven by strong demand from original equipment manufacturers, Pinnacle Industries aims for a revenue target of INR 750 crore in the 2023-24 financial year. Of this, the railway segment is expected to contribute between INR 70 crore and INR 80 crore.
The deployment of electric buses by EKA and other manufacturers is part of a broader effort to modernize public transport in India. The shift to electric vehicles is expected to lower emissions and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. State transport undertakings and private operators are increasingly placing large orders for electric buses, reflecting this transition.
With significant order books and ongoing deliveries, major manufacturers such as JBM Auto, Tata Motors, PMI, Switch, and EKA Mobility are set to play a key role in India’s electric mobility sector.
