Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, announced that the fiscal year 2022 becomes one of its most profitable since beginning manufacturing operations in India. Despite supply chain difficulties and an adverse cost environment, the company says it sold 29,470 commercial vehicles, growing revenue by 37% and sales by 25% over 2021.

In CY2022, the Chennai-based OEM reported a 37% increase in revenue and a 25% increase in sales over CY2021. In the calendar year 2022, DICV sold a total of 29,470 domestic and export units of trucks and buses, marking the company's biggest year of growth.

During the year, the company also passed the 200,000 vehicles (domestic and export) and 200,000 transmission production milestones at its Oragadam manufacturing facility. In 2022, the company achieved its highest-ever annual vehicle exports, highest-ever annual part sales, and highest-ever annual domestic vehicle sales.

DICV has had a significant impact on the construction and mining sectors, where BharatBenz heavy-duty vehicles dominate. BharatBenz introduced a full portfolio of high-powered heavy-duty trucks earlier this year, including the 3532CM mining tipper, the 2832CM mining tipper, and the 5532 tip-trailer, with options ranging from 6x4 to 10x4, mostly for construction and mining use.

BharatBenz offers a wide range of tipper equipment, from 6-wheeler 13T medium duty trucks to 22-wheeler 55T tip trailers. These trucks are used for surface construction, mining, irrigation, intra-city transport, etc. With engine-driven PTO solutions that meet every concreting demand, BharatBenz's next-generation products are changing the RMC (ready mix cement) application.

In its Oragadam site near Chennai, DICV manufactures four truck brands: BharatBenz (local brand), Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, and Mitsubishi Fuso. Oragadam transmissions of the highest quality are utilized in BharatBenz trucks and shipped to Europe.

In India, DICV has over 300 BharatBenz sales and service centres and a supplier network of over 400 partners. DICV teamed with IIT Madras Research Park in 2022 to explore solutions and foster new ideas to enable the company to establish a formidable position in the mobility market. In order to advance its transformational objectives, the CV maker claims it is in the midst of incubating new start-up enterprises in 2023.
