CHARGEZONE has secured long-term EV charging energy contracts worth more than $1 billion (around Rs 10,500 crore), marking a major expansion step for its high-speed charging network. The contracts will support charging requirements for intercity electric buses, electric trucks and commercial car fleets operating on key routes.

As part of this expansion, CHARGEZONE plans to deploy 1,000 new supercharging stations across important national highway corridors. The company expects these stations to support more than 15,000 EVs and charging sessions every day.

Expansion to Add 180MW Charging Capacity

The planned expansion will add 180MW of EV charging capacity, increasing CHARGEZONE's cumulative network capacity from the current 120MW to 300MW.

At full deployment, the expanded network is expected to deliver approximately 700GWh of energy annually. The company also expects average network utilisation to increase significantly from the current 14% to around 30%.

Focus on Long-Term Fleet Demand

CHARGEZONE's expansion strategy is based on contracted energy demand rather than relying mainly on projected EV traffic. Commercial electric fleets such as buses and trucks generally operate on predictable routes and have recurring charging requirements. These vehicles also consume more energy per vehicle, allowing the company to better understand expected charging demand and station utilisation before investing in new infrastructure. According to CHARGEZONE, this approach provides greater visibility into future energy revenues, station throughput and infrastructure utilisation.

CHARGEZONE Secures $25 Million Debt Financing

To support the expansion, CHARGEZONE has secured $25 million (around Rs 250 crore) in debt financing from Indian banks.

The company is also planning to raise an additional $100 million during 2026-27. The funds will be used for developing new supercharging stations, micro-grid infrastructure, advanced energy-management technology and wider network expansion.

Renewable Energy and Battery Storage Integration

CHARGEZONE is also integrating renewable energy solutions into its high-speed charging infrastructure. This includes solar power generation and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). These systems are expected to increase renewable energy usage, manage peak power demand and improve energy resilience at charging locations. Currently, CHARGEZONE operates more than 15,000 charging points across over 1,200 locations in India and the UAE.
